Barton Moss is commissioned by the Youth Justice Services, all young people are either on remand or sentenced via the criminal courts. GMMH provide an equitable Healthcare provision whilst the young people are detained at Barton Moss
To contribute to the provision of a high-quality healthcare service for young people across two Secure Children’s Homes (SCHs), within the Health and Justice Directorate. The role will be predominantly based at Barton Moss but there will be the occasion where cover will have to be provided at Marydale SCH in St Helens.
As a member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team, the post holder is responsible for completing an assessment using the Comprehensive Health Assessment Tool (CHAT). Following this assessment and whilst young people are resident you will have to manage a caseload of young people.
Ensuring a range of assessments and interventions are implemented and evaluated with the young person their families/carers and other members of the multiagency/disciplinary team, as appropriate.
The post holder will be expected to work very closely with the residential staff to help develop their skills and develop joint care plans to manage risks and meet the needs of the young people.
The post holder will provide assessment and therapy/treatment services for young people who experience problems with mental health associated with trauma due to significant care and life events. There will be intense liaison with statutory and non-statutory agencies and services, including Social services, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, prisons and other services, as required.
The post holder will provide specialist clinical sessions to meet the needs of the young people.
The Post Holder will be part of the model of care being implemented into the Secure Childrens Homes which is formulation based care.
The post holder will pro-actively contribute to service and practice developments initiatives within the Network Business Plan which is a reflection of local and national developments.

The young people present with a range of diverse needs including complex trauma, neurodiversity, and common mental health difficulties (e.g., anxiety and depression).
These co-occur alongside concerns about risk to themselves and / or others, as well as risk from others, often in the form of exploitation. The post involves working within a multidisciplinary mental and physical healthcare team to undertake specialist assessments and interventions directly with young people, their families and carers.
The post-holder will provide assessment and intervention for their caseload of young people, working closely with other members of the MDT, residential and education staff, and wider agencies such as Social Care or criminal justice agencies.
The role involves collaborating with other colleagues to continue implementation of an NHS England integrated care initiative (SECURE STAIRS). This may involve contributing to service development, delivering training or consultation to other professionals, or providing supervision to support the integration of formulation-led care.
