Learning Support Assistant

The Youth Education Service work in partnership with an SEN school in Wirral who are looking to recruit multiple support assistants across their sites. As The School continues to grow we are adding to a team which has high expectations and sets high standards for both pupils and colleagues.
We are looking to recruit qualified and/or experienced Teaching Assistants across Key Stages 2, 3 & 4 to support the provision and expanding team along with increased pupil numbers.
Your knowledge, skills and experience are important, but so will be your emotional intelligence and resilience. You will be empathetic and compassionate but have the ability to set clear boundaries and expectations.
Expectations are high, challenges you have never faced before will come from all directions and the responsibility will be on you to meet them in line with the vision of school.
**The role**
To work under the instruction/ guidance of teaching/senior staff to undertake work /care/support programmes. You will predominantly be working in a Year 4 class working as an SEN classroom assistant. There may be occasions where the role involves working on a 1:1 basis or working with small groups inside and outside the classroom.
**Specific Duties and Responsibilities**
**1. Support for Pupils**
- To promote pupils' development in a safe, secure, challenging environment
- To have regard for the safety and well-being of the pupil at all times
- To meet the physical/medical needs of the pupil according to a pupil’s individual care plan whilst encouraging independence wherever possible. Medical needs include the administration of medicines by mouth or other medical procedures provided appropriate training has been given by an appropriate person.
- To develop an understanding of the pupil's specific needs in order to help them learn as effectively as possible
- To participate in pupils' play and extend and stimulate language through conversation
- To focus on individual pupils to ensure their needs are being met within the group.
- To encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
**2. Support for Teachers**
- To liaise with teachers regarding the daily/weekly programme of activities and events
- To work with other staff delivering Individual Education and Health Care Plans
- To set out, prepare, use, tidy and clean equipment after use. Assist in the general preparation and tidying of the classroom
- To be aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and report to the teacher as agreed
- To work within established disciplinary policy to anticipate and manage behaviour constructively, promoting self control and independence
**3. Support for the School**
- To work alongside other professionals in assessing children’s progress/needs
- To work as a member of the staff team in all relevant activities to develop the school
- To ensure knowledge of all whole school policies and implement them as relevant to their role in the life of the school, promoting the ethos of the school
- To treat all information relating to a pupil as strictly confidential, and refer all enquiries, other than from professional, to the Headteacher
- To be a proactive member of the school and class team
**You must have**:
- You will be a motivated and enthusiastic individual with a passion for working with children, particularly those with social, emotional and / or mental health issues.
- A background in education is not a necessity but you may have experience working with children, ideally those with challenging behaviour, Autism, ADHD, Asperger’s, mental health issues and / or social and emotional issues.
- You will have knowledge of safeguarding young people and a willingness to undertake additional and on-going training and personal development.
- You will be an excellent team player with a positive and resilient nature who likes to see and get the best out of young people.
**Hours: 08:30 - 16:00**
**Pay: £89.74 - £107 per day**
