We are looking for an Environment Planning Officer to support water quality within the Devon, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Environmental Planning (IEP) team. Water quality and impacts on the environment have never been higher on the public agenda, and as pressure from climate change increases work to protect and enhance water quality becomes even more critical. The workstreams covered by this role will include:
- Supporting delivery of our work focusing on protected areas, including bathing waters, shellfish waters and drinking water protected areas
- Supporting our work on the Price Review process with the water company
- Working alongside internal Environment Agency colleagues and external partners to deliver water quality outcomes

We are seeking a motivated self-starter who is passionate about improving the environment. You will bring a combination of technical skills and the ability to work alongside others to deliver environmental outcomes across our area.

The team

We work closely with other teams bringing people together to ensure we focus on the right activities securing the improvements we need. You'll participate in a wider national community and work with partner organisations ultimately working towards outcomes that can provide clean and plentiful water for generations to come and deliver the ambitions of the Environment Agency 25 Year Environment Plan.

Experience/skills required
- You will need:
- A technical background in water quality and understanding of the current pressures facing the water environment and the solutions that can overcome these problems.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to interpret complex water quality information to varying audiences
- The ability to work collaboratively with others and influence workstreams to ensure water quality outcomes are secured
- Experience of working with water companies will be advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work in dispersed teams as we are currently largely home based
