We have a wonderful opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team at Ivetsey Bank Hospital School, to support and help our patients/pupils with their education and social development, both in and out of the classroom. You will be working across age groups between the ages of 12 to 18.
In lessons you will likely to be supporting small groups or individual patient/pupils with their learning. We hope you will take great pride in helping to maintain the classrooms and learning spaces. To take responsibility alongside the teachers for creating displays of pupil’s work. This is important to help us build self-esteem for the young people in our care and also helps you become part of the creative process. This may not only be in the classrooms but will include the communal areas of the hospital.
We use the QNIC education recording system (ERS) for collection of our data and all pupil records. There will be a full training and an induction program provided. We also have subsidised lunches and free parking. Our school terms follow the local education authority.
**What you'll be working**:
- Term time only
- 30 hours per week 5 days a week
**Main purpose**
The Teaching Assistant will:
- Work with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils.
- Promote pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.
- Give support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning, and experience a sense of achievement.
**Duties and responsibilities**
**Teaching and learning**
- Demonstrate an informed and efficient approach to teaching and learning by adopting relevant strategies to support the work of the teacher and increase achievement of all pupils including, where appropriate, those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
- To work 1:1 with those too unwell to attend the on-site school.
- Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities.
- Support the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum aimed at pupils achieving their full potential in all areas of learning.
- Organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment.
- Observe pupil performance and pass observations on to the class teacher.
- Supervise a small group if the teacher is temporarily unavailable.
- Undertake any other relevant duties given by the class teacher.
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils and help to safeguard pupils’ wellbeing by following the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and our school’s child protection policy.

- Helping and supporting school activities such as sporting events, concerts and hospital events
**What you'll have**:
Experience of working with young people and passionate about getting the best outcomes for all pupils
Experience of working with young people either in a Tier 4 CAMHS or a SEMH school desirable but not essential.
Good literacy and numeracy skills
