**Kitchen Assistant - Medicine Kitchen**

Location: 40 hours per week on-site at Witham Friary, BA11 5HL

**The Opportunity**:
Inviting a motivated, confident, joyful person to join our Medicine Kitchen Team as Kitchen Assistant/ Kitchen Porter at our pioneering organic farm and well-being centre designed to serve people and planetary well-being. This is an entry level role but there are opportunities for development if you are interested and motivated to progress.

Currently operating in the UK, we are home to a stunning farmhouse estate alongside an experimental, organic working farm in Somerset. With a strong philosophy to deliver unforgettable experiences for every guest, 42 Acres runs almost exclusively on renewable energy and much of the almost 200-acre setting is dedicated to nature restoration and wildlife.

**The Role**:
We are looking for a kitchen assistant/kitchen porter who will support our Medicine Kitchen team to deliver deeply nutritional, wholesome food. You will be invaluable to the team in delivering the health and safety standards of the kitchen ensuring it is sanitised and tidy at all times. A willingness to work within the team and meet the requirements to keep services and spaces meeting and exceeding expected standards is important. You will be part of the team delivering retreats and events which may be situated indoors but will also involve outdoor fire cooking and working from our off-grid Woodland Kitchen.

**How you would make an impact**

This role is within the catering and guest-experience team. Key accountabilities include:

You will be:

- Keeping kitchen work surfaces clean and sanitised (counters, sinks, stoves, walls)
- Washing all cooking equipment fast and effectively
- Wash all dinnerware, utensils and cutlery fast to keep them in rotation
- Sweep and mop floors at the beginning and end of shifts
- Keep food and supply storage areas clean and organised
- Be ready to clean up spills quickly to avoid accident or injury and ensure smooth operations in the kitchen
- Take out the rubbish and clean bins
- Carry out a deep clean weekly
- Supporting kitchen staff by taking on routine food prep tasks (peeling, chopping vegetables)
- Arrange equipment and ingredient deliveries
- Keep food storage areas organised supporting chefs in a specific work section.
- washing, peeling and preparing food items.
- using a variety of kitchen equipment such as mixers, special knives and cutters
- Clean tables and tiny the tea station areas ensuring the area is stocked with teas and snacks
- Ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to

- Interest in Soil to Gut philosophy, farming and ingredients _(desirable)_
