Undertake the trust Corporate and Directorate specific Induction and competency programmes appropriate to the role.2. Undertake and complete specified NVQ training at level 3 and/or equivalent competency programmes relevant to directorate needs and own role.4. Complete specialist training required that allows Health care to be delivered to the patient through new ways of working.5. Take responsibility in collaboration with line manager within personal development planning process for identifying own learning and development needs within the Care Certificate.6. Demonstrate skills and activities to others in similar roles and make contribution as a team member to the training of other Health care assistants and supervising learners.7.
Participate in clinical supervision and act as a mentor for those in a similar role.8. Participate in the orientation, instruction of less experienced staff.9. Comply with all Trust policies in relation to all aspects of practice.10. Act at all times in a manner that upholds the reputation of the Trust and safeguards the wellbeing and dignity of patients and their relatives Analytical and Judgement Skills1.
Ensure own actions assist with maintaining best practice and standards for better health. Planning and Organisational Skills1. Assist the registered Nurse by documenting height and weight2. Carry out designated clerical duties as delegated by the Ward Manager/Deputy Ward manager or registered Nurse.3.
Able to prioritise time and tasks.Physical Skills1. Take responsibility for maintaining own health and other Health and safety and Security.2. Carry out any moving and handling within safe practice guidelines from MDT and in relation to the patients care plan. Responsibility for Patient and Client Care1.
Provision of patients toileting needs, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained.2. The recording of patients fluid intake and output using fluid balance charts.3. Preparation and serving of patients meals, drinks and snacks. Assisting/feeding patients as necessary.4.
Obtaining samples from patients for ward or laboratory testing.5. Removal of cannula or dressing of CVAD following treatment6. Assist and support care delivery by only undertaking delegated work that is within own limitations, level of competence, skill and training.7. Carry out duties consistent with individual patient wishes, maintaining privacy, dignity and recognising cultural diversity and needs.8.
Contribute to the overall effectiveness of care delivered by the health care team and those benefits the patients experience.9. Ensure patients are aware of the unit layout and routine.10. To act as a chaperone as required in all clinical settings.11. Escort/transfer patients to other areas of the hospital as appropriate.12.
Prepare and maintain environments for clinical treatments and investigations.13. Collection of blood products from the laboratory.14. Initiate basic life support techniques as appropriate and provides assistance to the registered nurse as required in prolonged resuscitation situations.15. Ensure due regard is given to customs, values and spiritual beliefs of patients and carers.16.
Contributes to the management of aggressive and abusive behaviour. Following a period of competency based training and under direction of a registered Nurse the post holder will: -1. Perform vital sign observations, accurately document NEWS and report back to a registered nurse/health care professional.2. Perform Electrocardiograph (ECG) tracings
- ensuring it is checked by a doctor or ANP.3.
Insert cannula and flush with normal saline after checking the normal saline with a registered practitioner.4. Undertake venepuncture upon direction of Registered nurse and label appropriately and send to the labs.5. Process in department blood test (BMs) ensuring a registered nurse/healthcare professional checks the result.6. Care for CVAD adhering to trust policies.7.
Undertake the dressing of non-complex wounds (in accordance with identified competencies and in conjunction with the plan of care).8. Undertaking Vital signs, height, weight, infection control screens, ECG and obtaining blood samples.Responsibility for Policy and Service Development1. Adhere to CCC Trust policies, Procedures and guidelines and promote the compliance of others.2. Act in a professional manner and adhere to the CCC uniform policy.3.
