Trust Doctor Clinical Fellow (ST1/2 Level) in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.

Applications are invited for a full time Clinical Fellow Paediatrician based in the Paediatric Emergency Department at University Hospital Lewisham. These posts also involve overnight shifts and late shifts.

The post would be suitable for a Paediatric Trainee SHO level and above, or an Emergency Medicine trainee with significant experience working in a Paediatric A&E Department. This will be a permanent role within Paediatrics.

Eight juniors are allocated to this area, working a full shift system. At any one time, three will be from the GP training scheme, and one will be a clinical fellow. Applications are welcomed from A&E, surgical or GP trainees as well as paediatricians (please see person specifications at end of document). Study leave / annual leave is incorporated into the shift system.

The staff sees all children triaged by the paediatric A&E nursing staff; some children may be sent to the adjoining Primary Care Suite, otherwise the trainees are exposed to the full range of acute paediatric medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, ENT etc. In daytime hours, there is always a Paediatric A&E consultant on-site, and out of hours the main support is from the resident Paediatric, Surgical, Adult A&E and Orthopaedic registrars.
