It may also be possible to arrange to rotate to a neurology/neurodisability fellow post should the candidate wish to pursue a career in paediatric neurology or neurodisability.The Paediatric Department serves a diverse local population, with 100 languages spoken locally and covering a broad socio-economic range. The child development and neurodisability service works very closely with the general paediatric department and the neurology department.The post holder will join five dynamic consultants with subspecialty interests in neurodisability, autistic spectrum disorder and behavioural paediatrics. Please talk to us at interview.Job responsibilitiesThe post holder will be expected to participate in the teaching of undergraduate medical students, nurses, and health visitors about a range of topics.The post holder will be expected to keep timely and accurate records and to write letters and reports following assessments as appropriate and within the Trusts timescales.The post holder will be expected to participate in regular department meetings.The post holder will be expected to liaise with department staff and allied professionals in the running of the service.The post holder will be expected to undertake administrative duties as shall from time to time be delegated to them by the department, its consultants, managers and the Clinical Director of the Womens and Childrens directorate.The post holder will be expected to take part in the Clinical Governance programme of the Trust and is expected to do audit work in the department.Appropriate arrangements for study leave will be made in conjunction with colleagues.The post holder will be expected to attend mandatory courses that are required by the Trust.Person SpecificationBasic QualificationsMBBS or equivalentCurrent registration and in good standing with GMCMRCPCH or equivalentMSC in Paediatrics and/or Community Child HealthClinical ExperienceAt least 3 years experience or higher since first full GMC registrationTraining and at least 36 months experience in Paediatrics.Training and experience in identification and management of suspected child abuseTraining and experience in community child health in the UKExperience of working with children from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds and with children with special needsExperience of teaching organisation and practiceKNOWLEDGE & PERSONAL SKILLSAbility to assess a normal child and to recognise and appropriately manage abnormalityWillingness to work without immediate supervision, but with an awareness of one's individual limitationsExcellent communication skills with a good working knowledge of EnglishAbility to work with other health professionals-Team player.Willingness to work in multidisciplinary way and multi-agency groupsEvidence of ability to keep timely and accurate records.Willingness to work hardFlexibility, commitment and organisational skills (Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively)Diplomacy skills and compatibility with other colleagues and staff in the departmentParticipation in research or clinical auditWillingness to take part in teachingDemonstrated ability or experience in teaching e.g. Junior doctors, medical students etcFormal training in research or teaching methodsDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.Depending on experience£44,170 - £67,610 per annum +LDN Weighting #J-18808-Ljbffr
