The **Senior Body Development & Validation Engineer**is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on Body development and validation testing, ensuring robust design execution. Working alongside the Body Engineering Group and reportingto the Principal Body Development and Validation Engineer, they are also responsible for supporting and influencing the design and development of current and future technologies with the advancement of test and benchmark data, standards, procedures, and strategies.

**The Senior Body Development & Validation Engineer role:
Plan and execute material, component, system, and vehicle level testing.
Generate and maintain the Body design validation plans (DVP’s) in line with vehicle programme gateway deliverables.
Generate regular, data driven test, timing, and commercial reports.
Support failure root cause analysis (RCA) activity and validate solutions in accordance with the practical problem solving (PPS) methodology.
Create and maintain test procedures, standards, and strategies for the validation of body materials, components, and systems.
Plan and execute competitor benchmarking activity in correlation with series variant development.
Catalogue test and benchmark data to aid system development and target setting.
Manage and report against programme DVP budgets on behalf of the Body Group.
Identify and execute opportunities to improve validation processes and strategies from quality, timing, and commercial perspectives.
Support innovation in current and future technology development with:

- Data based insight and target setting.
- Design failure mode engineering analysis (DFMEA) support.
- Validation definition, costing, planning and execution.
Support Vehicle Development, Attribute, and CAE testing relevant to the Body Engineering Group to ensure representative, correlated, quality testing.
- Co-ordinate with the Engineering, Quality, Commercial and Logistics teams to ensure the timely, cost effective, robust sign-off of production solutions.
Co-ordinate with the Passive Safety and Legislation Teams to deliver component safety and certification requirements in line with vehicle test plans and programme gateway deliverables.
Support the DFMEA process to aid risk assessment, identify failure detection methods and generate validation plans.
Support the creation and maintenance of product technical specifications from a validation perspective.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Experience of the Senior Body Development & Validation Engineer:
Mechanical or Automotive engineering degree 2:1 or above.
Knowledge and experience of automotive body validation procedures.
Experience in the execution of automotive body systems test procedures
Knowledge of data gathering and processing methods for automotive body systems tests
Experience in test apparatus selection for bespoke body system tests
Understanding of automotive body interior/exterior/in white materials and technologies
Proven experience in root cause and failure mode analysis.
Commercial awareness with a demonstrable record of delivering projects to budget.
Understanding of system delivery within an APQP, Six Sigma or similar framework (including FMEA, system development, validation and PPAP).
Experience of low to medium volume vehicle production.
Catia V5 working knowledge.
Thorough comprehension of PPS, APQP or Six Sigma.
