**Organisation Details**

The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) licences, regulates and plans marine activities in the seas around England so that they’re carried out in a sustainable way. The MMO also works with delivery partners to support global marine protection by providing assistance and advice to UK Overseas Territories under the Blue Belt Programme, and to other countries under the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP).

**Job description**

One of the main threats posed to the protection of the marine environments around the UK Overseas Territories (UKOTs) and countries within the Ocean Country Partnership Programme is Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. The Global Marine Team’s Compliance and Enforcement unit provides advice and support to the UKOTs to address illegal activity through remote surveillance and monitoring.

The Senior Data Officer will provide day-to-day support to Global Marines Compliance & Enforcement unit, and specifically the intelligence management functions. They will also manage a small team of analysts in providing assistance to UK Overseas Territories and to other countries under the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP). They will proactively identify opportunities to develop intelligence packages using new and existing data sets.
