This post is for the NCA and will involve travel across site between Salford Royal and Oldham Royal Hospitals.
We have an exciting opportunity within the Women’s and Children’s Division as we are looking for a professional, motivated, and compassionate colleague to join us within the Macmillan Gynaecology Oncology Service as a B4 support worker. You will have worked within a health care setting for a minimum of two years and be computer literate. You will hold an NVQ level 2/3 and have experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team. We want all women living with Gynae cancers to be able to access the right support at the right time. The role will make you a key worker for women, and able to identify their needs based on the holistic needs assessment. You will develop individualised care plans, where the women sit at the centre of care planning, so that they are empowered to access all the help and support available to them.
We are looking for team players who have ability to work alone and are confident in facilitating their own clinics and support groups. You must be a safe practitioner who is able to escalate concerns to management and recognise when extra support is needed, but who can also resolve issues at a local level so that our patients feel listened to and supported.
The Macmillan gynae cancer support worker will work under the guidance of a registered health professional, supporting people living with cancer. The aim of the role is to make sure that people living with cancer can access the right support, at the right time. The support worker can act as a key worker they will identify a person’s needs by using the holistic needs assessment and the co-production of a personalised care plan to support and empower people living with cancer. The post holder would be expected to work across a range of IT systems accessing the right information and education resources to support people in making decisions working indirectly and directly with both patients and carers, navigating the health care system to assist in coordinating the care of patients through their care journey. This may involve facilitating rapid re-entry into the system, provision of appropriate advice and escalation of concerns to a registered practitioner where required.
