A position is available working with 2 young adult males (siblings) with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder and Communication Difficulties. Experience of working within these areas would be desirable, as would be experience of Positive Behaviour Management. The right applicant will be patient and self-motivating and be willing to develop a trusting relationship with the clients.

You would be working as part of a small team dedicated to developing the independence of the clients to enable them to lead a fulfilling life both within their residence and in the wider community.

Both clients have communication difficulties and frustration can lead to challenging behaviours. Strict safeguarding measures are in place and challenging incidents are dealt with as a team.

Both clients are bright, enjoy spending time on their special interests and they take part in a variety of activities including drawing, craft activities, computer research, geography, cooking, puzzles, LEGO, playdoh and language. They are both very physically active and enjoy spending time outside walking and outdoor play (trampolining, play equipment).

You will play a crucial role in the lives of our clients, supporting their daily activities, personal care, educational needs, and personal development.

Administering medication and record keeping.

Maintenance of the environment e.g tidying and cleaning duties (with encouragement of clients to assist to gain independence).

Support both clients out in the community e.g. walking, shopping, eating out, library trips etc.

Assist both clients with creative and engaging tasks and fun activities.

Promote independence, self-esteem, and confidence in our young clients, celebrating their achievements and milestones.

A compassionate and caring nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.

Resilience and patience when faced with challenges.

A willingness to learn and follow guidance from the team.

Flexibility to work on a shift basis, including weekend and night shifts.

A minimum 6 months experience in Autism care is desirable but not essential as full training can be given.
Preferably PBM trained or Team Teach trained, or experience of these.
Patient and caring attitude. Able to deal calmly with stressful situations.
Physically fit.
Able to work within a small dedicated team.
Must be flexible with hours.
Car driver preferable as location is not close to public transport.
Applicant to be 22 years old or over, due to age of clients.
