**Head of State Fragility initiative**

**Salary from £49,196 to £56,833 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £63,295 pa inclusive of London allowance**

The International Growth Centre (IGC) works with policymakers in developing countries to promote inclusive and sustainable growth through pathbreaking research. State Fragility initiative (SFi) is an IGC initiative that catalyses new thinking, develops more effective approaches to addressing state fragility, and supports collaborative efforts to take emerging consensus into practice. SFi brings together robust evidence and practical insight to produce actionable, policy-focused guidance on state legitimacy, state effectiveness, private sector development, and conflict and security.

The Head of State Fragility leads the initiative strategy and ensures the overall effectiveness of the team at national, regional and global scale including
- National level engagements with policymakers undergoing pivotal moments, with flagship engagement in Yemen
- DFI Fragility Forum which brings together DFIs to improve the effectiveness of job-creating private investment in fragile and conflict-affected environments
- Programme of work on scaling up investments in energy access in fragile settings
- Thematic leadership on state fragility issues within the wider IGC

The role involves team, programme and grant management, and operates under the academic leadership of Professors Paul Collier and Tim Besley.

The successful applicant will have
- Deep knowledge and experience in research and policy development relating to economic growth in fragile settings
- Masters degree in economics, public policy/ administration, development economics or a related discipline
- Experience in programme management, including people, budget and grant management.
- Ability to convey complex research findings and relevant policy ideas to diverse audiences.
- Ability to use initiative and creativity to solve problems.
