F/T Female Personal Assistant Support worker / Driver

40hrs per week

£10.90 PER HR

Post:
Female Support worker required for a “brain injured” woman who lives with her husband at home in South Ayrshire. It is important to recognize that the care you are employed to assist with will be provided within the family home, therefore confidentiality and respect for the family’s privacy and daily routine is of the utmost importance.

The tasks you may be required to do will vary, according to the needs of the employer and will include the following:
PERSONAL TASKS:
Monitoring her getting in / out of shower.

Assistance with personal shaving ( under arms only )

Reminders regarding appropriateness.

Assistance / monitoring with cooking.

Assistance with road safety awareness.

Encouragement to try tasks that may be challenging.

Encourage independence.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE:
Assistance with nail care ( hands and feet )

Assistance with foot care

Assistance washing, drying, styling hair

HOUSEHOLD TASKS : (to be completed for the person you are employed to assist only)

These will be completed on a regular basis throughout the week or when needed:
Keeping the kitchen clean and tidy, mopping floor

Household cleaning, which will include the bathroom, bedroom etc

Laundry / Ironing

Cleaning windows internally

Dusting / Hoovering

GENERAL TASKS : (done as and when required)

Going to the local shops / assisting her with her shopping

Assistance in computer work, iPad, iPhone etc.

Assistance with rehabilitation programme on a daily basis.

Assisting with my paperwork / telephone calls / mail etc.

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES / OUTINGS : (you may be required to assist me)

Taking her to local groups.

Going to appointments

Meeting friends / family

Assisting with hobbies and interests.

Going for a walk

Driving using your own vehicle. - Must have full clean drivers licence and business use on your car Ins. Mileage costs for using your car as part of your work will be reimbursed.

SUPPORTED PERSON’S HOBBIES / INTERESTS:
Reading / Art / Attending groups (spiritual, healing, meditation etc.)

Yoga / Keeping Fit / Walking / Book writing.

STAFF TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
No specific training required

Ad Hoc training as and when identified.

You may be asked to accompany the Employer on Holiday ( Paid )

PERSONAL ASSISTANT HOURS AND DAYS OF WORK:
This 40 hour post will mainly be Day Shift, Monday to Friday 8hrs per day, with a bit of flexibility built in as and when necessary to include the occasional evening and weekend, you will be advised in advance if this is required..

Start time will be 09.00 and finish time will be 5.00 p.m

Salary is paid 4 weekly in arrears, by BACS Transfer.

This Job Description is set around the ladies needs as is the rota and either may change in the future according to her support needs, you will be advised by her husband.

There is a 6 month probationary period attached to this post

Successful applicant will have to undergo a new or update of the PVG disclosure scheme at the cost of the employer, as well as supply 2 update date reference contacts
