Job Information
This post is fixed term for 2 years and is being funded from Asylum Seeker and Refugee funding. This post will primarily be dealing with clients who present as homeless from the Asylum Seeker and Refugee community.

**ROLE OF THE JOB**

The Homeless and Housing Options service is a county wide service offering advice and assistance to individuals who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. The team covers the whole of the Northumberland area.

You must have a good standard of education to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent with effective IT skills. You should have detailed working knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation including The Housing Act 1996, Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 & Landlord & Tenant Law along with a sound understanding of housing policies and procedures in a public sector environment, and the ability to provide initial advice regarding finance and welfare benefits is required. A relevant professional would be desirable. This post involves regular travel throughout the County therefore you must be able to meet the transport requirements. When required you will also be on call for out of office hours emergency calls for homeless applicants.

**REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB**
- Understands the diverse functions of a large complex public organisation.
- An active appreciation of the procedural and practical issues relating to the service.
- An active awareness of and active interest in the current issues facing the service.
- Actively undertaking ongoing continuous professional and personal development.
- Understanding of the Council’s housing management and lettings policies.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance.
- Sound understanding of housing policies and procedures in a public sector environment.
- Understands the relationship between costs, quality, customer care and performance and actively monitors progress within the Department.
