**Job summary**:
Levelling up is the Government’s top domestic priority and this is your chance to take a leadership role within the team driving this programme of work forward.
The Levelling Up Group was responsible for writing the Levelling Up White Paper, which was published last year, and now coordinates the work necessary to implement this ambitious programme of change. This includes driving progress on the 12 missions, developing new policies and strategy to reduce spatial disparities, delivering devolution deals, undertaking place-based deep dives to better understand the specific challenges and opportunities in places across the UK, and delivering our ambitious commitment to develop a plan for simplifying the local funding landscape.
The analytical teams within this group are at the centre of policy development and delivery and you will be both a key member and support a number of our key analytical and strategy functions, including co-ordinating the delivery of the Levelling Up missions, external stakeholder engagement and putting place at the centre of analysis.
This roles involves significant cross-government engagement and will involve close working with No10 and HMT. You will work closely with senior officials and ministers across HMG and within local government and be responsible for external engagement on evidence.

**Job description**:
- Heading the unit’s analysis of human capital and how this drives growth and disparities across the UK.
- Leading place-based analysis across our wide policy programme to ensure that place specific challenges and opportunities are understood and central to proposed policy interventions.
- Building the evidence base for what works to drive regeneration and economic growth in different types of places across the UK.
- Managing DLUHC’s relationship with core clients both within and outside of HMG.
- Leading and designing analytical projects to influence policy across Government to fulfil levelling up objectives, specifically on place, but also on net zero and cost of living.
- Updating DLUHC Ministers and senior officials on developments on a regular basis.
- Supporting general levelling up strategy functions including the running of the Inter-Ministerial Group and Levelling Up Advisory Council.
**Person specification**:
We are also looking for the following essential Key Criteria:
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience in co-ordinating and driving work across multiple teams and/or departments (Lead Criterion)
- A track record in delivering and designing analytical projects to influence policy thinking.
- Ability to communicate complex analysis or theory to a wide range of audiences, including senior officials.
- An ability to take a strategic overview of work priorities and develop and deliver Analysis which supports stakeholder needs.
Basic knowledge of economics is desirable.
You will need to address the technical competences for your profession at interview.
