Behavior Support Mentor
A Secondary school on the outskirts of Bradford are looking for a Behaviour Lead Mentor to join their friendly team this year.
This is no ordinary, monotonous role and everyday will look very different. The school benefits from being a large, diverse and fast paced environment where the expectations of students are high. They have a very effective behaviour policy in place and SLT are incredibly supportive and successful. Students are on the whole eager to learn and are encouraged to have high self-expectation. The cohort of students is very diverse with a high percentage of pupil premium students, a high proportion of English as an additional Language and a high number of students having an EHCP in place.
- Your role as Behaviour mentor will include working with the guidance of SLT to manage the behaviour and attendance of a particular year group; providing on call duties, managing the isolation room, conducting investigations, communicating with parents and keeping data up to date.
- You will be liaising with parents to ensure a consistent approach to student behaviour and attendance, which can sometimes mean having difficult conversations.
- You will build positive, professional relationships with students to ensure a focused approach to safeguarding.
- Ultimately, you will support students with their well-being journey whilst in school in order to develop their chances of academic success.
You will have:
Experience within a similar field
- Care Work, Residential Care, Prison Officers, Army Personnel, Mental Health Support, Childcare specialists.
A desire to support and encourage young people to achieve their potential
Excellent organisational skills
Professionalism and high expectations
The ability to communicate with and inspire children of all abilities
