The Open Data Institute is looking to appoint a Data Management and Requirements Specialist for the OpenActive initiative in partnership with Sport England.

**About the role**
To foster change in the physical activity sector, OpenActive needs to ensure that organisations within it are adopting our standards and using them as effectively as possible. Equally, we need to make sure our standards serve their needs and help such organisationsrealise value from them. On the one hand, then,
the role of the Data Management and Requirements Specialist is to encourage and support our partners in implementing OpenActive standards by providing them with technically-informed guidance, smoothing and reducing the learning curve for organisations new toopen data approaches. Equally, it is to engage deeply with such groups to understand the data-related aspects of their goals and strategies, and to ensure
OpenActive’s continued relevance to these.
Working closely with both the Technical and Engagement teams in the ODI’s OpenActive programme, you will be responsible for liaising with developers and stakeholders, in order to help them understand our technical standards, the Open Source tools and librariesthat have developed to support these, and the steps they need to take to start publishing, consuming, or improving OpenActive data.
Where appropriate, you will be comfortable creating data-focused technical documentation, presentations, and tutorials
**Key responsibilities**:

- Defining data requirements, data specifications, and assessing how best to meet these within OpenActive standards
- Supporting the OpenActive engagement team by acting as a technical advisor in external group calls and workshops.
- Working with members of the OpenActive community to resolve data issues
- Engaging with end-users, stakeholders, and other members of the OpenActive community
- Drafting of requirements and specification documents, and of Invitations to Tender
- Providing technical guidance to non-technical community members on data-related issues
- Planning and producing high-level technical documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Leading data design meetings and workshops

**Essential**:

- Experience of and understanding of data management, including data collection, data schemas, and datastores.
- Experience in data management practices related to metadata and data quality
- Excellent influencing and communication skills, demonstrable ability to engage, work with and influence both business & technical teams
- Strong end-user focus and a strategic thinker
- Fluent written and spoken English
