If so, we have a fulfilling opportunity for you to join our team as Head of Estates and Health & Safety at a progressive Further Education College in the Oldham area.

This role would suit an exceptional Facilities Manager or Estates professional who is seeking a rewarding job that provides superior work/life balance to the standard requirements for a senior FM role.

Offering a wide range of courses and support services to help students excel and achieve their goals, providing a level of complexity with managing a variety of facilities.

Role Overview: As the Head of Estates, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the college estates, as well as maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all students, staff, and visitors. You will play a vital role in managing premises, facilities, and health and safety systems to meet regulatory requirements and enhance the overall college experience. Some experience in managing capital projects would be advantageous.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures in line with legal requirements, industry best practices, and college guidelines.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, inspections, and audits to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement and take appropriate action to mitigate risks.
- Oversee the management and maintenance of college buildings, grounds, and facilities, ensuring they are well-maintained, safe, and conducive to learning.
- Provide guidance and support to staff, students, and contractors regarding health and safety matters, promoting a culture of awareness and responsibility.
- Keep up-to-date with relevant legislation and industry trends, providing recommendations for continuous improvement and implementing changes as necessary.
- Manage and oversee contractors and suppliers, ensuring they meet health and safety requirements and deliver high-quality services.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- A degree or relevant professional qualification in facilities, estates management, health and safety, or a related field. Alternatively Qualified by Experience with evidence of continuous professional development.
- Proven experience in estates management and health and safety, preferably within an educational institution.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Relevant professional certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, etc.) are highly desirable.
