Clinical or Counselling Psychologist

Creative, Innovative and Breaking the Stigma.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join the Out of Hospital Care Team (OOHCT), working alongside a multidisciplinary team including social work, mental health practitioners, occupational therapy and third sector homelessness providers.
We are looking for a psychologist who values and enjoys multi-disciplinary team working and indirect work (e.g. case formulation, consultation and the provision of reflective spaces), ideally someone who has experience of working with people with complex needs and an ability to engage with ‘hard to reach’ individuals to provide treatment outside of structured settings. We are also looking for someone who likes working flexibly and creatively, in non-traditional settings.
The team aims to work in a creative and user-centred way, driving a new approach with colleagues across the system. Alongside the possibility of building your clinical skills under supervision, there is an opportunity to influence the design and delivery of services in the county. The Out of Hospital Care model is a nation-wide program, evaluated by King’s College London, and the evidence will be used to inform services/funding across the country going forward.
The service user group are among the most disadvantaged and vulnerable in society having often experienced multiple deprivation, trauma and exclusion from services and mainstream society. The team is working with existing outreach services and accommodation providers to support people who sleep rough and/or have unstable accommodation to enable access to services and tackle health inequalities.
Partnership working with other third sector and statutory services is a key part of the role and we are looking for someone who can form good links and relationships with colleagues and local services.
Our teams work with a highly diverse population, presenting lots of opportunities to explore all aspects of diversity and their impact on clinical practice. The service is working towards embedding trauma informed practice which is currently being rolled out across key services in Oxfordshire.
Oxford Health offers great CPD and training opportunities, with excellent links with the Oxford Centre for Psychological Health and Oxford Institute for Clinical Psychology Training, which are hosted by the Trust. We actively encourage innovation, quality improvement, and research with opportunities for collaborations with the University of Oxford Department of Psychiatry. We also collaborate with Oxford Brookes University, Buckinghamshire New University and the University of Bath.
Benefits of working for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust include:
- Excellent opportunities for career progression
- 27 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, with an increase to 33 days with continuous service
- NHS Discount across a wide range of shops, restaurants and retailers
- Staff accommodation
- Competitive pension scheme
- Lease car scheme
- Cycle to work scheme
- New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
This post will receive supervision from a senior clinical psychologist based within the team, who in turn reports to the Head of Social Care/Urgent Care and is supervised by the Associate Director for Psychological Services. There will be opportunities to meet and maintain contact with other psychological therapists in the organisation and to identify additional supervision and CPD needs.
**Please Note**:
- New starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale.
- Employees are expected to undertake mandatory and statutory training related to their role.
- Oxford Health is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
