**Markets Lawyer (Prime)**
**London**
As a Barclays Markets Lawyer (Prime), you will provide day-to-day coverage in the Legal function with responsibilities covering the Equity Finance and Fixed Income Finance businesses. You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior business personnel as well as lead negotiation of key legal agreements and regulatory implementation projects, while managing outside counsel relationships.

**What will you be doing?**:
- Providing support and advice to the Markets business of Barclays’ Investment Bank, with a focus on securities lending and cash prime brokerage
- Negotiating the more complex documents relevant for the product coverage area, including bespoke stock lending and repo documentation, prime brokerage and global netting agreements
- Managing a broad portfolio of work, both transactional and regulatory, and accountability to business and other stakeholders in respect of these
- Contributing to and, where appropriate, representing the Legal in respect of various business-led strategic projects
- Assisting with optimising processes, policies and procedures according to securities lending and prime brokerage activity globally
- Acting as an escalation point for the Global Contract Services team supporting their negotiation of global securities lending agreements and global master repurchase agreements
- Managing the preparation and ongoing maintenance of template documentation
- Advising senior business leads and other stakeholders on transactions and strategic regulatory change projects
**What we’re looking for**:
- Commonwealth, US or European qualified lawyer
- Experience of advising on and negotiating derivatives and loan documentation, or advising on financial/commercial contracts
- Good legal analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively and identify innovative solutions as well as the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts and ideas
**Skills that will**
**help you in the role**:
- Experience of advising on prime brokerage agreements, securities financing arrangements or other prime financing-specific documentation would be preferred
- Experience of advising on and implementing regulatory change in a prime financing context would be advantageous
- A good understanding of commercial rationale to support the business in formulating and executing strategy would help you thrive in this role

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as: a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and it is easily accessible by tube and bus links. With a population of around 5000 staff the atmosphere is second to none with a real buzz being created around the offices within.
