We’re looking for an enthusiastic Buyer to manage several direct categories.
Our new Buyer will work within a team of three colleagues, planning, sourcing, selecting and negotiating commercial and competitively priced products, while always maximising sales and margin.
We pride ourselves on securing great products for our customers and negotiating the best deals with suppliers. We work with the very best local producers but also find products from around the world to meet constantly changing requirements.
Applicants will have a proven track record as a Buyer (or Junior Buyer looking for career progression), working in a similar environment.
The successful applicant will be a proven negotiator, with experience in delivering category strategies in a complex and competitive market. You will always put our customers first.
As our new Buyer, your role will include:
- Placing orders to minimise stock holding
- Forecast levels of demand for services and products
- Source the best products and suppliers in terms of value, service and quality
- Run tenders, evaluate bids and make recommendations, based on commercial and technical factors
- Negotiate and agree on contracts, monitor the ongoing quality of service and manage intake volumes
- Understand financial issues and prioritise purchasing needs in accordance with the budget
- Maintain contract files and use them as reference for the future
- Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers
- Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams including supply chain, planning, marketing, IT, ops, sales, and accounts
- Develop strategies to make sure that cost savings and supplier performance targets are met/exceeded
- Analyse data, give presentations and produce reports and statistics on spend and saving
Skills and experience required:
- Experience in a procurement or purchasing role essential
- Exceptional business acumen
- Intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Office software, including Excel and Word
- Good standard of written English
- Data analysis skills
- Query Resolution experience
- Proven experience in change implementation where manufacturing standards are improved using lean methodology linked to the delivery of a quality-based culture
What we can offer you:
- Salary up to £35,000
- 33 days holiday including bank holiday with an option to buy up to 5 extra days
- Monday to Friday 8 am -5 pm - 1 hour unpaid break
