Your new company:

Volvo Cars Malton & York or Ray Chapman Motors is one of the largest dealer groups within the Volvo network and sell hundreds of cars each month with an annual turnover of over £100million and 112 members of staff. They have 4 sites, 2 state of the art, multi-million-pound dealership and 2 large scale, modern storage and preparation facilities. With a 50-year history and 4 generations of the Chapman Family to have worked within the business, Ray Chapman Motors is a highly respected organisation where employees are not treated like a number, but guided, looked after and trusted like a human being.

Your new role:
This is a permanent roll that will ultimately lead to a buyer position. A buyer is a complex and extremely prestigious position within the motor industry and in many businesses requires up to a decade of experience. This is fast track scheme that means you could be in a senior role with a significant remuneration package within 3 years. You will start on £23k/annum and follow a 3-month training program. Specific responsibilities and remuneration will slowly be added to your role as the months go by. A buyer’s basic responsibilities include;
- Purchasing over 1000 cars/£35million of stock per year
- Overseeing the sale of up to 100 trade part exchanges a month
- Overseeing the preparation for sale of up to 200 cars a month
- Managing a large team of people
- Looking for opportunities to grow sales and profitability
- Responsible for the profit of the department

About you:

- You will not need any experience
- You will be a highly motivated graduate with the desire to work hard to grow the business and yourself
- You will not necessarily have any interest in cars but an interest in retail, trading and business
- You will be inquisitive, there is a lot to learn and having a curious mind that wants to understand how things work is key
- You will be a fast learner with common sense to take initiative in reactive situations.
