**Role Overview**
The Experienced Youth Worker will play a pivotal role in managing and delivering our community youth and afterschool programmes. This individual will take ownership of ensuring high-quality provision across all our programmes, managing staff, volunteers, and students to meet organisational goals. They will also oversee outreach strategies, session planning, mentoring integration, and outcome reporting, ensuring our work has measurable, positive impacts on young people.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Programme Management**
- Oversee the delivery of youth and afterschool programmes, including **Beyond the Mirror**, **ProBaller Football League**, **Creative Arts Programmes** and **Youth Community programmes**.
- Develop and implement **sessional plans and schemes of work** in collaboration with senior managers and sessional facilitators, ensuring that programmes align with organisational objectives.
- Coordinate and manage **programme facilitators**, ensuring they are supported to deliver high-quality sessions.
- Supervise and mentor **volunteers and placement students**, building their capacity to support programme delivery.
**Youth Engagement and Outreach**
- Develop and execute an **outreach strategy** to engage young people and manage referrals through schools, local councils, and community networks.
- Build relationships with external stakeholders, including schools, parents, and referral organisations, to ensure effective recruitment of participants in partnership with the Head of Programmes.
- Act as a key point of contact for young people, parents, and community members, addressing concerns and feedback.
**Mentoring and Holistic Support**
- Embed a **mentoring approach** within programme delivery, ensuring young people receive tailored support to address well-being barriers and develop confidence, resilience, and skills.
- Provide individual mentoring to young people where necessary, supporting their holistic development and progression.
**Monitoring and Evaluation**
- Oversee **outcome reporting**, collecting data on attendance, participant feedback, and progress against personal development goals.
- Work closely with senior managers to ensure programmes meet key performance indicators to report on their impact to funders and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all data collection complies with safeguarding and data protection standards.
**Team Leadership**
- Support the professional development of **session facilitators, volunteers, and students**, conducting regular check-ins and offering constructive feedback.
- Lead by example, maintaining professional relationships with all team members and participants.
- Work collaboratively with the senior management team to address challenges and ensure smooth programme operations.
**Safeguarding and Risk Management**
- Ensure all programmes comply with safeguarding policies, conducting risk assessments as required.
- Act as a safeguarding lead, addressing any concerns in line with organisational policies.
- Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all participants and team members.
**Person Specification**
**Essential**
- **Qualifications**: Relevant qualifications in youth work, education, or social work (Level 3 or above).
- **Experience**: Experience in a youth work setting, including managing programmes and volunteers.
- Experience working with disadvantaged communities in Greater Manchester
- **Skills**:
- Proven ability to develop sessional plans and schemes of work.
- Strong mentoring skills with a holistic approach to youth development.
- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- **Knowledge**:
- Understanding of challenges faced by young people in diverse communities.
- Familiarity with outcome measurement frameworks and reporting.
- **Other**:
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
**Desirable**
- Experience working with creative arts, sports, or well-being programmes.
- Experience managing volunteers and placement students.
- Knowledge of local communities in North Manchester
