Job purpose of the **School Facilities Assistant:**
To assist and support the Facilities Management Supervisor regarding the daily preparation and maintenance of the whole school site, including Early Years and sports pavilions. In addition, duties include locking up and securing the school site. The positionreports to the Facilities Management Supervisor.
Key duties and responsibilities of the **School Facilities Assistant**:
- School Premises - Internal_
- Maintain the cleanliness of all areas of the School and its property, including the Sports Hall, Pavillions, shower block, swimming pool facilities etc
- Keep the communal areas and stores tidy and well organised
- Set out rooms and halls in preparation for meetings, plays, concerts and other events
- Report and rectify (where appropriate) any faults, problems or damage to the School's buildings
- Maintain swimming pool plant and test the water
- Legionella testing - training to be given
- School Premises - External:_
- Undertake daily checks of outside areas to identify and report any faults, problems or damage
- Maintain equipment, play areas, play pitches and play apparatus, with particular regard for pupils' health and safety
- Weeding, light gardening, collecting litter and empty bins.
- Respond to external conditions, for example, clearing leaves and snow.
- Fire Warden :_
- Undertake the training for and duties of a Fire Warden for the School
- Undertake compliance training E.g. fire alarm training and emergency lighting training
- Undertake testing of fire alarm, emergency lighting, legionella, fire door and fire extinguisher checks
- General duties:_
- Opening and closing school premises, liaising with outside hirers and working with our cleaning contractors
- Porterage of equipment, furniture and deliveries around the School and between sites
- Cleaning, including responding to spillages, bodily fluids, overflows, blockages etc.
- Basic maintenance tasks including sweeping, leaf blowing, and other general duties
- Transport : _ Prepare minibuses for external trips & Undertake driving tasks for the transportation of staff/pupils and the delivery of goods
- Training & development:_ Participate in the Appraisal and Performance Review process. Undertake training when the need arises, either for statutory purposes or for the better fulfilment of this role
- General Requirements:_
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact
- Maintain high professional standards of attendance, punctuality, appearance and conduct, ensuring uniform is worn at all times
- Maintain positive, courteous relations with pupils, parents and colleagues
- Promote the good name and reputation of the School and adhere to School policies and procedures
Keys Skills and knowledge required for the **School Facilities Assistant**
- Basic knowledge and aptitude for handyman tasks **(Essential)** with an interest or experience in gardening
- A full UK driving licence **(Essential)**, able to drive a mini-bus **(Advantageous)**:
- Able to swim and confident to undertake pool plant course (3 days)
- Health & Safety procedures, including manual lifting and handling procedures and Fire precautions
- Personal competencies and qualities _
- Ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload, work independently and use your own initiative
- Team focused: shares knowledge and information with other members of staff to promote good practice
- Co-operative, helpful and accommodating with other team members and staff

Hours and Salary offered for the **Schools Facilities Assistant**
- Your working hours will alternate every other week. One week, 8 - 5pm (Monday to Friday). The following week, 2pm - 10pm (Tuesday & Wednesday), 1pm - 10pm (Thursday & Friday) and 7am - 6pm (Saturday)
- One hour's break during the day, which includes two 15- minute tea breaks and one 30- minute lunch break
- Working hours and days will be adjusted during the School's holiday periods to meet the needs of the School
In return our client is offering a competitive salary between £23,870.00 to £25,990.00 per annum depending on experience
