Are you looking for an interesting, autonomous and flexible role within education supporting your local schools? We have a vacancy for a governance professional/clerk to governors to support schools in Rugby and the surrounding area. This role may suit someone who is semi-retired but looking to make a difference in their local community. The role is term-time only and we expect our clerks to clerk around 2-4 meetings per term.

The role of clerk or governance professional as it's now known, is a very important and challenging role involving attending governing board meetings at assigned schools and completing the minutes and all other administrative work from home on the laptop provided.

- confidence to build effective relationships with the Chair and Headteacher and other key stakeholders
- own transport and willingness to travel to schools as required (mileage will be paid
- a high level of personal integrity, dependability, reliability and professionalism
- competency in Microsoft Word and using online systems
- proven interest in schools and education
- flexibility to attend meetings in the afternoon and early evening and to complete all other required work from home
- commitment to achieve the Level 3 Certificate in Clerking within the first 12 months of employment.

**Duties include**:

- liaising with the Chair of Governors and Headteacher prior to each meeting to agree an agenda (using the Entrust suggested agenda template)
- attending governing board meetings at assigned schools and producing accurate, succinct minutes and an action log for each meeting
- collating and distributing papers using an online portal within agreed timescales
- supporting the governing board to comply with relevant legislation and procedures (training and support will be provided)
- keeping accurate membership records
