Tech Educators is national, instructor-led bootcamp provider focussed on ensuring fair access to education for all, supporting students from all backgrounds to gain, or further their career using the latest technologies including Software Development, Digital Marketing and AI.
As our organisation continues to grow, we are seeking to employ an individual who is motivated to support students to achieve their full potential, working to support students with individualised career support, information and advice to ensure a positive outcome in their career journey.
Whilst a Career Information and Advice - Level 4 Diploma is a benefit for this role, we are seeking an individual who is passionate about supporting and nurturing our bootcamp graduates, to achieve positive outcomes.
**Role Overview**
The Careers Adviser will provide Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) to learners enrolled in Tech Educators' bootcamps. This role will support individuals from diverse backgrounds to develop employability skills, secure tech-related roles, and progress in their careers while ensuring key performance indicators (KPIs) are met through data analysis, reporting, engaging workshops, and effective action planning.
Individuals who do not hold a Career Information and Advice - Level 4 Diploma, will need to complete one, alongside their role within Tech Educators. The cost of training will be covered by Tech Educators.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Career Guidance, IAG & Action Planning**
- Offer IAG (Information, Advice, and Guidance) to learners, helping them understand career pathways and available opportunities in the courses we offer
- Develop personalised action plans to help learners set clear, achievable career goals and outline the steps required to reach them.
- Regularly review and update action plans based on learner progress and evolving career objectives.
- Provide progress monitoring and adjust plans as needed.
**Employability Skills Development & Workshops**
- Lead career workshops on topics such as CV writing, job searching, interview techniques, LinkedIn optimisation, and networking strategies.
- CV and Portfolio Building: Help learners create strong CVs, LinkedIn profiles, and project portfolios showcasing their skills.
- Interview Preparation: Provide training on technical and behavioural interviews, including mock interviews.
**Employer Engagement**
- Build relationships with tech employers, recruiters, and industry professionals to create job opportunities.
- Support learners in securing job interviews, apprenticeships, and work placements.
- Promote Tech Educators' no hiring fees policy to encourage employer participation.
**Meeting KPIs, Analysing & Reporting**
- Work towards and achieve KPIs related to learner employment rates, career progression, and employer engagement.
- Collect, analyse, and interpret learner progress data, job placement outcomes, and employer feedback.
- Maintain accurate records and produce regular reports on learner outcomes, employment statistics, and career progression rates.
- Identify trends and areas for improvement to enhance career support services.
**Problem-Solving & Initiative**
- Recognise problems that may arise in learners' job search or career development, and take proactive action to resolve these issues.
- Use your own initiative to problem-solve, such as identifying barriers to employment and finding creative solutions for learners, employers, and the programme.
- Adapt career strategies as needed to support learners facing specific challenges or industry changes.
**Inclusion & Accessibility**
- Ensure diverse learners, including those from underrepresented groups, receive tailored career support.
- Provide guidance on workplace accessibility and adjustments where needed.
**Continuous Support & Alumni Engagement**
- Offer career advice for up to six months post-bootcamp to support job placement and career progression.
- Encourage learners to engage with Tech Educators' alumni network for peer support and mentoring.
- Develop and lead regular alumni events to provide continuous support and refresh/fill gaps in knowledge
**Skills & Qualifications**
- Hold, or be willing to complete a CIAG Qualification: Level 4 or Level 6 Diploma in Careers Information, Advice & Guidance (CIAG) or equivalent.
- Tech Industry Knowledge: Understanding of UK tech sector trends, job roles, and employer expectations is a great benefit.
- Communication & Coaching Skills: Ability to engage, motivate, and empower learners.
- Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with instructors, employer engagement teams, and other careers professionals to enhance learner support.
- Organisational & Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple learners, track progress, and coordinate employer partnerships effectively.
- Working Under Pressure: Experience in handling high workloads, meeting deadlines, and providing support to learners in time-sensitive job search situations.
