Birmingham, United Kingdom Counter Terrorism Policing Full time

**Job Title: CTP - National Desktop and Field Team Lead**

**Salary: £43,292 to £47,380 plus a Location allowance of £1,639. You will receive £43,292 the band minimum. Progress to the band maximum of £47,380 will be via incremental progression.**

**Location**:Birmingham**

**It takes technical and leadership skill to keep the country safe**

**Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) needs to stay one step ahead of threats. Our National Customer Service Centre (CSC) provides CTP with vital support, so it’s essential that its technology remains operational every hour of every day. And this is where you could come in — in an exceptionally challenging role where technical ability is as crucial as prominent leadership, and where the environment is often demanding and always fast-paced.**

In essence, you’ll be supporting counter terrorism policing across the whole of the country and overseas. You’ll do that by providing governance and control for the desktop and field engineering function for our national network.

The role involves everything from people management and work and schedule planning to taking ownership of all hardware faults and liaising with affected stakeholders, suppliers and resolution teams. Of course, you’ll look to improve team and operational performance throughout. In addition, you’ll be helping the Desktop Manager develop future Regional working relationships and solutions.

Your ability to mentor your team and translate complex technical issues into everyday language is going to be crucial. You’ll also need to be adept at managing expectations — whether within the team or those of users — and form good working relationships across senior management.

You’ll also bring us leadership ability that’s strong enough to accommodate varying personalities backed by the technical skills to lead experienced Desktop & Field Engineers plus a wider support team.

The hardware environment is largely off the shelf, but we can always give you training. Beyond this, you should be comfortable travelling to multiple sites involving the occasional overnight stays and deputising for the Desktop Manager in their absence.

There’s no doubt that this is a challenging role. But in return, you can look forward to benefits including substantial annual leave, Civil Service pension arrangements, interest free season ticket loans, flexible working conditions and more.
