Norwich, United Kingdom Aviva Full time

**In Summary**

If you enjoy analysing data, finding problems and if the prospect of hunting, detecting and blocking cyber criminals excites you, this could be the pathway for you.

**Cyber Security Apprentice - Level 4 - Technology**

**Location: Bristol / Norwich**

Join us as a Cyber Security Analyst Apprentice, and you will learn the fundamentals to cyber security practices and how these can be applied to protect Aviva data, our customers and colleagues from cyber-attacks and website fraud.

As the UK’s largest insurer, a FTSE 100 company and an international leader in our industry, our Technology teams are crucial to our success. We truly believe our Technology community is amongst the most experienced and supportive anywhere. Without their skills and ideas, we wouldn’t be the company we are today.

You’ll be able to earn a salary whilst working towards qualifications and learning from some of the most inspirational people in tech. And our Apprentice roles are permanent jobs from day one.

**About the role**

Our **Cyber Security Apprenticeships **will see you studying for a Level 4 Cyber Security Technologist Apprenticeship, equivalent to a foundation degree.

Our Cyber Security Analyst Apprentices don’t wait for something bad to happen; they actively seek to anticipate and prevent Cyber-attacks by identifying any potential areas of weakness or vulnerability in our systems that could be used against us - and importantly how these can be remedied. They ensure that regular maintenance is performed on our security software monitoring tools and implement new functionalities and products as necessary to mitigate and minimise risks. They harness the power of data and use this to identify anomalies and make informed recommendations on the best course of action for the business to take.

Everyone at Aviva has a role to play in helping to minimise cyber-attacks, so our Cyber teams help to educate our colleagues on ways to protect themselves and our customers from being exploited by raising awareness of the ways that we can all help to prevent, spot and report incidents.

During your first 18-months you’ll spend 80% of your time gaining real hands-on experience in the role and 20% dedicated to your Level 4 Apprenticeship studies. As long as you’re curious and passionate about technology, then we can teach you the rest - you’ll have a structured training programme and a support network to encourage you and help you develop.

**What’s in it for you?**
- Starting salary of £21,700 including paid Apprenticeship study time
- A permanent role right from the outset
- Support towards relevant professional qualifications and lots of other development opportunities
- Flexible working and wellbeing support
- A great support network to help you grow into your role
- 25 days holiday, plus bank holidays
- Opportunities to get involved and give back to our local communities with paid volunteering time
- Contributory pension scheme
- Discounts on all Aviva products
- A discretionary annual performance-related bonus
- Share Save scheme

**What do we look for?**

New insights, perspectives and diversity of thought are all invaluable to us. Which is why you don’t need to have studied IT to join us in Technology. We have Apprentices who have studied everything from Music to Maths to History, and they’re all equally brilliant. For these roles you’ll need to:

- Have at least five GCSEs or Scottish National 5s at A*-C or 9-4 grade (or equivalent), including English and Maths
- Have, or be on track to achieve, at least three A Levels (grades B, C, C or above) or four Scottish Highers (grades B,B,B,C or above) - or a Level 3 equivalent qualification
- Be a force for change and improvement - whether it’s through your studies, your work experience or your outside interests, we’ll want to see how you’ve helped make things better

You’ll also be a confident communicator who can explain technical concepts clearly and concisely. You’ll have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a love of learning, and a commitment to continually developing yourself. And it goes without saying that we’ll be looking for a genuine curiosity in technology and specifically Cyber Security.

**Where will you be based?**

We offer Apprentice roles in our Bristol and Norwich offices.

It is likely that you’ll balance time in the office with working from home. We call this Smart Working. 3 days in the office, and 2 days from home per week is a very typical example, but will vary between teams. When you join us, your leader will take time to discuss this with you, and agree what works best for you, your team and the organisation.

It’s important to note that even though we work this office/home blend, you will need to live within a commutable distance of one of the locations listed above. That way you will get to spend time with your team in person as well as virtually and get access to the right support networks inte
