We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Accountant to join our Group Financial Reporting team here at Hastings Direct.
You will be responsible for producing and delivering all aspects of external reporting, Investment reporting, Solvency II and Ratings to our parent Company, Sampo. The role also includes production of entity statutory financial statements, drafting reportsand board memos for the Audit Committee, as well as providing technical accounting expertise to the wider finance function and business.
We operate a hybrid working model and are flexible on location providing you are within a commutable distance to our Bexhill office.
**About the role**:
Through building effective relationships with stakeholders, this role will be responsible for supporting the external audit as well as involvement in various group finance projects.
**Your remit will include**;
**Group Reporting**
- Production of the IFRS consolidated (UK Group) quarterly reporting pack.
- Supporting the production of the UK Group Solvency II submission to our parent company.
- Production of the quarterly Investment and Ratings reporting packs and the financial aspects of the Risk reporting pack (annual).
- Responsibility for responding to and answering queries on the aforementioned reporting packs.
- Supporting the Group Financial Reporting Manager in ensuring that the yearend audit process as it relates to the IFRS reporting to the parent company runs smoothly.

**External Reporting and Year end process**
- Production of Statutory Financial Statements for the Group's UK subsidiaries.
- Assist the Group's auditors to ensure that the yearend audit process runs smoothly
- Peer reviewing reconciliations, schedules, notes and other work of other team members

**Technical Accounting**
- Maintain excellent working knowledge of IFRS and fully consider the accounting implications of transactions or changes to the operations of the Group in light of these standards.
- Supporting technical accounting projects including consultation with other teams throughout the Group and preparation of technical accounting memos and discussion papers.
- Supporting the maintenance of Group accounting policies to ensure follows best practice and remain relevant.
- Respond to adhoc queries from, and provide support to, Business Partners, Group Tax and Audit Committees.
- Ownership of weekly technical intelligence reporting, scanning the horizon for technical and reporting developments (IASB, FRC FCA amongst others).
