Payroll Manager

My client is a leading firm of Accountants with a supportive culture and incredible long service. They boast an enviable and large portfolio of long-standing clients and are successfully winning new relationships weekly through word of mouth. They have severaloffices and are looking to grow further in the future. Our client is looking for a Payroll Manager to join their team in the Taunton office.
**The main duties include;**
- Registering new PAYE schemes with HMRC and setting up client payrolls.
- Provide a thorough level of checking to ensure that accuracy and compliance standards are maintained.
- Liaise with clients, GP Managers and Partners.
- Review and create payroll policies and procedures in line with current legislation.
- Provide advice on tax and payment laws within the UK.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of a department, including assigning work to staff members based on their knowledge and capabilities and helping with the development of junior members of the team.
- Perform month end payroll checking and reconciliation.
- HMRC compliance checks and HMRC audits.
- Perform PAYE reconciliations.
- Attending client meetings & creating your own relationships so that clients naturally default to the manager for communication.
- Being confident in the use of the latest software & being able to discuss with & recommend to clients.
- Understanding and adhering to our internal software and procedures.
- To promote and ensure best practice is followed for all compliance matters.
- To contribute or manage internal projects that may not be directly related to the portfolio management.
- To effectively manage the financial aspects of the portfolio.
- Management responsibilities such as supporting, training the team and conducting appraisals.
- The ability to work closely with other members of the team and management team.
- Good working knowledge of all areas of Payroll, RTI and current HMRC reporting requirements
- Experience in processing payroll in a Practice environment
- Ability to carry out manual calculation
- Knowledge of Sage software
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Good attention to detail
- Self-motivated
- Excellent client care skills
- Confidence to communicate at all levels
