Dartford, United Kingdom Moat Homes Full time

**Role**: Accounting Services Officer
**Hours**: 35 hours per week
**Contract**: Permanent
**Salary**: £23,526 to £29,407 per annum
**Location**: We work in an agile way which means you’ll spend some of your time working from home, and some at our Head Office in Dartford
**Looking to make a difference?**
Moat is one of the top 30 housing associations in the UK, with over 21,000 homes spread across South East London, Kent, Essex and Sussex, with around 50,000 people living in our homes.
Our vision is a simple one - it’s to end housing need. We believe that everyone should have somewhere that they can call home and be really proud of. This has always been fundamental to people’s life chances, but the current crisis has really brought that home.
The Accounting Services team has an essential part to play in ensuring that all our monetary transactions are recorded accurately and on time. You will be working in a friendly but hard-working team of 5 (including 3 purchase ledger officers and a team leader), within the wider Finance & Corporate Services directorate. Moat has a refreshed corporate strategy, with a very clear focus on putting the customer at the centre of what we do, so it is a really exciting time to join Moat
**Who are we looking for?**
- _Numeracy and literacy:_ We need you to understand numbers and be able to communicate well in writing.
- _Accounting experience:_ You should know the difference between a debit and a credit, a receipt and a payment, and have extensive experience in processing cash book journals and reconciling accounts to bank statements, ideally for a group of companies. Experience of purchase ledger processing would be a distinct advantage, as you will be assisting the purchase ledger team as part of your role. You’ll need to be comfortable processing invoices and credit notes.
- _Computer skills:_ Working in a Microsoft Windows environment should be second nature to you, including competency in MS Excel and MS Word, and the management of files using File Explorer. If you have experience of Sun Systems, Infor Query & Analysis and Proactis P2P this will be a distinct advantage.
- _Attention to detail:_ The success of our accounting function depends on you getting things right first time and questioning things that don’t look right.
- _Reconciliation skills:_ You need to be able to reconcile accounts with limited supervision, and proactively deal with any queries that come up during this process.

**What would you be doing?**
- You’ll process cash transactions and prepare bank reconciliations for all group bank accounts.
- You’ll prepare daily cash book journal postings, obtaining and electronically filing necessary back up documentation and liaising with other teams around Moat to identify the source of unknown transactions.
- You’ll spend some of your time processing purchase invoices in the Proactis P2P system, matching them to orders within the system and raising queries to colleagues if more information is needed to enable a successful match.

If you’re interested in commencing or enhancing your career in Accounting, and have a buzz when working with numbers, then this is the ideal role for you
**In return for your hard work, we will reward you with**:

- A salary of £23,526 to £29,407 per annum
- 35 hours per week
- A permanent contract
- A generous annual leave entitlement with the flexibility to buy and sell more
- A pension scheme and life insurance
- Training and development including accredited management courses, further education sponsorship, professional subscriptions, leaderships development programmes and culture of internal development
- Health and wellbeing including an employee assistance programme and a selection of optional initiatives
