Working Hours - 7.45am - 4.30pm (Monday - Friday)

Here at Serco, we’re looking for a Distance Learning Coordinator to join our team at HMP Dovegate - a Category B adult male facility near Uttoxeter, Staffordshire where we care for up to 1060 male adult prisoners over the age of 21 serving a range of sentences including trial, remand, those awaiting sentence and convicted men serving long and short term sentences.

You will join our committed team, where you will be expected to supervise learners undertaking their studies throughout the provision including the conducting of assessments as required. You will lead upon the planning and implementation of events throughout the year including graduation ceremonies.

As the distance learning coordinator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day support and active promotion of opportunities available to those upon the distance learning pathway.

Main Accountabilities
Completion of PET (Prisoner Education Trust) Monitoring Forms and OU registration forms
Support, monitoring and liaison with PET and OU
Arranging and Scheduling of Open University exams in the Education Departments
Invigilate Open University/Distance Learning exams as per awarding body guidelines
Ensure the timely submission of all assignments to distance learning providers as per deadlines
Responsibility for the collection of all distance learning external and internal mail into the prison and dissemination to prisoners in a timely manner
Responsibility for ensuring that all IT systems are fully operational, containing all distance learning material and fit for purpose in conjunction with the IT Tutors and IT Department
To work closely with the library to ensure that any additional resources are available to support with prisoner research
Monitoring and access to all prisoner web pages
Liaison with other prisons on transfer to ensure prisoners are able to continue with Distance Learning Programmes and informing Distance learning Coordinators of this change
Arrange for prisoners to continue with studies upon release
Regular one to one meetings with prisoners on Distance Learning programmes in all areas of the prison

What I need to do the job?

**Essential**:
ECDL/IT qualifications
Level 2 in Maths and English
Demonstration of flexibility and the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure

**Desirable**:
Good working knowledge of Distance Learning programmes, in particular, Open University
Previous experience in a distance learning environment
L3 AET/PTLLS qualification
