**Job overview**:
The Nursing Associate in the community is a valued member of the team, working closely with the integrated team to provide care and education to patients on the community caseload. The Nursing Associate will be supported in providing care by the wider nursing team. They will have a list of their own patients that are under the care of the district nurses and will provide care for a variety of reasons, such as catheter care, wound care, medication administration. All staff are provided with a robust local induction and competency document, alongside additional support from the practice education and specialist nurse teams.

This vacancy is for the Oldham out of hours district nursing service. This service is delivered across 7 days a week 52 weeks of the year. The service is run from 5pm to 8am with a combination of shifts of 5pm til 1am and 8pm til 8am. The team works from a central location and delivers care across the full footprint of Oldham.

**Main duties of the job**:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for six Qualified Nursing Associates to work within Oldham Community Integrated Health and Social Care Teams

The post holders will support clinical practice in the wider Adult Community Nursing Service by:

- Keeping the people who using our services as safe as possible through the use of sound clinical skills and effective risk assessments.
- Ensuring the best possible clinical outcomes by using up-to-date skills and adhering to evidence based policies and procedures.
- Ensuring the people using our services have a good experience by respecting, empowering and working in partnership with people throughout the care planning process
- Supporting learning in both formal and informal settings in order to support the on-going development of staff in clinical practice.

You will be supported in this role and will have opportunities for continuing professional development in a busy and rapidly developing service.

**Essential criteria**:

- Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC Register
- Foundation Degree
- GCSEs Grade C or above in Maths and English Language / New GCSE Grade 4-9 in Maths and English Language OR Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English or Equivalent
- Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate
- Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards
- Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional for expert help and advice
- Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to support, supervise, assess and act as a role model
- Have effective time management skills
- Maintain high standards of quality in corporate and clinical record
- Positive approach to work
- Open minded, treats colleagues and the general public with dignity and respect

**Desirable criteria**:

- Experience of working in community setting
