An outstanding,forward-thinking SEN school in Dudley is looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their dynamic team of staff. The school is looking for a Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with one of their Year 11 students who has complex needs, including Autism,ADHD and communication difficulties. You will need high levels of patience, understanding and resilience for this role as behaviour is often challenging, so experience in working with these diagnoses is very important. If you are a Teaching Assistant withexcellent communication skills and a great ability to generate strong relationships with pupils, then this is the role for you
As a Teaching Assistant in this school, you will also be supporting teachers in the classroom with small class sizes. You will be providing learning support in small groups and on a 1:1 basis, under direction of the teacher. Because of the SEN intake of theschool, it is important to differentiate the work provided by the class teacher and make it easy to understand for children with additional needs. As a Teaching Assistant, you will also be working with the pastoral team to provide wellbeing support to childrenin need of additional attention. When new students join the school, you will work alongside the admissions team to assess the literacy and numeracy levels of the pupils. You will also be asked to take part in wider-school activities such as trips or enrichmentclasses, which make learning more fun For this role, you do not need a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, however working as a Teaching Assistant in an SEN setting is vital.
The Teaching Assistant role:
- Supporting teachers in the classroom with learning, wellbeing and behaviour management
- Working with a KS4 student on a 1:1 basis
- Providing pastoral support to students with additional needs
- Engaging in wider-school activities
- Being a role model to the children
