**HR Manager** NEWCASTLE (521) Permanent - can be 4 days per week

£39,600 + flexible working

Are you looking to work for a unique business with a vibrant culture and it’s own unique personality? Our client is an SME business and looking for an HR Manager to deliver a values based HR service to the business and it’s employees.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Review the HR operation within the business and develop strategies to bring about continuous improvements
- Advising Directors, senior managers and employees of developments and providing guidance on all HR issues
- Lead, manage and effectively develop the HR Co-ordinator
- Overall responsibility for ensuring that disciplinary and grievance procedures are managed in a fair and consistent manner and in line with company policy
- Manage the recruitment and selection process for all areas of the organisation, including developing advertising strategies and selection methods
- Ensure and oversee effective absence management
- Ensure that effective consultation, communication and negotiation takes place with recognised trade union representatives
- Management of departmental resources, including budget setting and monitoring
- Develop, deliver and manage a training and development programme ensuring best use of available resources
- Establish a performance management culture including the development, management and monitoring of the annual PDR process
- Advise Directors and senior managers on pay, reward and benefit structures, making recommendations as appropriate
- Promote equality and diversity as part of the culture of the business and be a key member of the Diversity Working Group

**Initial Key projects**
- Streamline HR/T&A/payroll processes to reduce manual administration
- Review current people policies, procedures and practices to identify improvements
- Create and deliver development plans for leaders/managers

**Person Specification**
- Experience of developing an organisation via HR strategies, policies and procedures
- Compassionate and strong in their dealings with others
- Display a high level of emotional intelligence
- Ability to interpret complex legislation and identify appropriate courses of action with a flexible approach demonstrating organisational sensitivity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Demonstrable negotiating and influencing skills
- Experience of line-managing and developing staff
- Confident approach to decision-making and problem-solving
- Strong organisational skills
- Good understanding of equality and diversity issues
