An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Support Officer role within Gynaecology, part of the Women’s and Sexual Health directorate.

This is an exciting time to join the directorate as it goes through a time of change and innovation and the role itself is multifaceted with good opportunities for training and development and project management.

This post requires high level skills in the use of Microsoft packages such as excel, iCare, excellent customer service skills, and an excellent working knowledge of LGT patient pathways and patient tracking lists.

The post holder will be working cross site between Lewisham Hospital, Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Queen Mary's Sidcup.

To assist the Service Manager (SM) to develop and deliver high quality, patient / service user focused and cost-effective pathways and service, meeting the requirements of our commissioners and the Trust’s Annual Business Plan.

To liaise with the clinical teams to provide administrative support to assist clinicians in developing and improving patient care processes. Being specific to Gynaecology - This will include quality improvement programmes such as GIRFT and the development of patient care pathways and standard operating policies, as well as PTL validation and supporting projects such as the weekly theatre scheduling meeting.

The post holder will also oversee the QMS theatre project and outsourcing of patients to the independent sector.

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is a community focused provider of local and acute care, providing high quality services to over one million people living across the London boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley. With a turnover of around £700 million, we provide services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, University Hospital Lewisham and a range of community settings in Lewisham. We also provide some services at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup.

As an organisation, we’ve made significant improvements for patients and staff in the last two and-a-half years. This is reflected in our most recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection (from February 2020), which found improvements across the organisation and gave us an improved rating of “Good” in the Well-Led and Effective domains, in addition to the rating of “Good” that we had already achieved in the Caring domain. Our staff culture change programme has been key to the Trust’s improvement journey, as we’ve stabilised our workforce by reducing vacancy rates and improving staff retention. We’ve also significantly increased the representation of minority ethnic leaders across our clinical and corporate teams.

**Key Result Areas & Performance**:

- Exercise delegated authority on behalf of the SM of the service allocated to resolve day-to-day management issues
- To assist in actively monitoring performance, contracts, waiting lists and targets to enable practice and timely actions, liaising with the clinicians and nursing teams and make appropriate actions.
- Support the SM / GM with collation, presentation and as appropriate, the analysis of data so that the SM / GM have access to timely and accurate information on all key performance indicators.
- To regularly validate patient pathways to ensure that they are accurately recorded and the next steps within their pathway are progressing appropriately.
- To support on the delivery of cancer and 18-week performance for the Trust ensuring that the access policy is followed.
- To be responsible for weekly reporting on 18-week performance and supporting the SM in capacity planning to ensure sustained achievement of the target.
- To set and review standards of inpatient and outpatient-based services continuously, in line with the national performance targets, local contractual requirements, activity and financial targets.
- Deal with and respond where appropriate to all complaints for the service they are assigned to in accordance with Trust policy, ensuring that any necessary remedial action is taken.
- To attend relevant departmental meetings within the Trust to represent the Division and provide updates on various issues e.g. Service Delivery, HR issues, Health & Safety matters, Security issues.
- To undertake risk assessment for areas of responsibility and ensure that appropriate health and safety, fire and other statutory regulations are adhered to.
- To provide regular reports to the Division Team relating to activity, identifying adverse variances and monitoring activity trends.
- To ensure accurate recording of all activity within area for which the post holder is responsible, including any service plan monitoring information as required.
- To monitor achievements of quality standards, particularly performance targets and support initiatives to maximise throughput and minimise delayed discharges.
- To oversee services for the SM in periods of absence.
