**BUSINESS SUPPORT OFFICER**

**Salary**: £28000 - £32000 per annum, depending on experience

Our client Banya Family Placement is hiring Business Support Officer to join their team.

**Accountability**

The Business Support Officer is a post accountable to their Directors supervised and managed by the Recruitment Manager.

The main function of the post is to provide administration support to the recruitment of prospective foster carers and new members of staff as well as renewing old staff checks and this includes completing necessary checks, dealing with telephone/reception, computer, and paper-based record keeping according to the fostering regulations, and liaising with the registered manager and business development manager.

**Main tasks and responsibilities**

Organise the processing of statutory checks and other references required by the agency for prospective carers, staff, and others as appropriate, including collecting the information needed to carry out these checks.

Assist with keeping computer database information on prospective carers and HR files for staff members.

Respond to telephone enquiries, receive visitors to the office and deal with post.

Assist with the setup, maintenance, and administration of office systems, including computer systems, and train staff accordingly.

Participate in and contribute to their training activities. Full training will be given where necessary.

Liaise with the managers, and Supervising Social Workers and other staff as needed, to assist them in carrying out their work regarding quality assurance.

Be familiar with their policies, procedures, and guidance, including the policy on the need to keep all information confidential.

Be part of the Quality Assurance (QA) team for Banya

Keep up to date with issues around fostering, e.g., current practice, legislation, and standards.

Carry out typing, filing, and sorting of letters and other documents plus minute taking.

Assist with referrals, liaising with placement officers and placement social workers.

Promote equal opportunities and anti-discrimination through all aspects of the work.

Performance of any other tasks and responsibilities consistent with the role of the Business Support Officer.

Ad hoc administration.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**

**Qualifications and experience**

Knowledge of IT systems including Word, Excel and spreadsheets.

Appropriate hands-on experience in office environments, including telephone/reception, typing and keeping records.

Experience working with other professionals, in a small office environment, is desirable.

Knowledge of the Fostering Service Regulations, related legislation, standards and regulations, or willingness to acquire this.

**Skills**

Excellent telephone/reception ability.

Competence with office computer software packages.

A good level of written and oral communication, and problem-solving skills.

Accurate keyboard skills, and ability to prepare documents for distribution, meeting deadlines.

Able to liaise with foster carers, social workers, and other professionals.

Able to work effectively as part of a team and to prioritise own workload.

Able to work flexible hours.
