Wolverhampton, United Kingdom University of Wolverhampton Full time

**[1 Full-time (37 hours per week) post - working 08:45 to 17:09 Monday to Friday]**
**[1 Part-time (22.2 hours per week) post - working 08:45 to 17:09 on selected days]**

Demand for the service is high with multiple intakes and enquiries that reflect the student journey. You will need to be a confident communicator with the skills to provide clear and relevant information, interrogate systems and to liaise effectively with colleagues across the university to provide and implement solutions, ensuring the student makes an informed decision, understanding any implications. With excellent customer service skills, you will show patience and empathy as themes can be repetitive, understanding may be compromised by language and/or emotion, and information may be unfavourable.

This is not a flexible role; you will work to a rota assigning you to different channels of communication and be expected to carry out the entirety of your role on campus to ensure that the advertised service is delivered. The service is available Monday to Friday but opening hours vary to enable ongoing and comprehensive training.

**Student Advisor Role and Responsibilities**
- To be the first point of contact for incoming student enquiries, referring to specialist services where required.
- To record all interactions so service performance, trends and individual performance can be monitored
- To develop a good understanding of university policies and relevant processes to advise and support students.
- To utilise University software/systems to review information, checking for accuracy and seeking corrections to the student’s record and timetable.
- To identify student behaviours and make referrals to support student welfare.

**Student Advisor Requirements**
- Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal, listening and empathy.
- Dedicated to providing a high standard of customer service, professional and approachable.
- Ability to work successfully with staff at all levels across an organisation to achieve results.
- A confident communicator, with the ability to communicate effectively with people who are dissatisfied or distressed.
- Ability to assimilate complex information quickly and accurately and to convey the information to others.
- Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy.

This is not a comprehensive list, and all applicants should aim to demonstrate the skills and knowledge detailed within the person specification for the role.

Please note that due to the confidential and sensitive nature of the information you will have access to, the post cannot be fulfilled by anyone actively studying at the University, however graduates are encouraged to apply. This role cannot provide UK sponsorship.

**(You will be based at the City Campus but expected to attend training and be allocated with notice to work at any university location - City, Telford or Walsall)**

**For further information about the role**

Interviews will be held **in November**2025**.
