Main purpose of role
The main purpose of the role is to assist the landscape team in the day-to-day landscape tasks primarily focused on Eaton Park but also in the estate villages and properties. The tasks include mowing and strimming during the spring, summer and early autumn, together with general landscape tasks such as clearing leaves, maintaining tree guards and generally keeping the park and villages tidy. During the winter months, the landscape team will help with forestry planting. If time allows, the team will help with interrow mowing of young forestry plantations.
The landscape team is made up of a Landscape Lead and two experienced operators, the landscape fixed term position will be on a fixed term appointment for an initial period of 3 months. The team has a pivotal role looking after one of the most important parts of the estate and interacting with many other teams such as Gardens, Building Services and Estate Management.
The landscape fixed term position will adhere to health and safety which includes risk assessment, maintenance of machinery. The role will be outdoors, and the person should be able to work in all weather conditions and environments
The landscape fixed term position will report to the Landscape Lead who will provide direction, support and feedback through regular meetings, planning and monitor tasks and their quality. The landscape fixed term position has a key role in maintaining standards, efficiency and safety.
Key responsibilities- The landscape fixed term position will work with Eaton landscape team and contractors to maintain the landscape of Eaton Park and the surrounding area and villages including public rights of way.- The landscape fixed term position takes an active role in the landscape team. These duties include mowing of formal grass areas, maintaining of the streets in the estate villages and the maintenance of grounds associated with selected properties.- During the summer, if time allows, the landscape fixed term position will work with the Forestry team and help with interrow mowing of young plantations. During quieter periods, they will help with tree planting.- Comply with company policy and best practise in security, legal and regulatory compliance.- Ensure H&S responsibilities are fulfilled.
Essential skills and attributes- It is essential that the landscape fixed term position has an eye for detail and can preform tasks given to a high standard and quality.- Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of landscape tasks and be able to complete them as a team or alone.- Experience of undertaking landscape operations. It is essential that the landscape fixed term position understands the logistics of landscape operations and is therefore able to use their knowledge to complete the tasks.- The ability to work within and established team and contractors to complete objectives given by the Landscape Lead. The ability to listen to others and accept feedback positively and constructively. Able to share knowledge by communicating with focus, simplicity and clarity.- Sound problem solving skills and the ability to work on your own initiative. The ability to identify and recognise problems and to unpick them and develop sensible and robust solutions.- Able and willing to develop by keeping up to date with specialist knowledge and the ability to adapt to change by being able to deal with uncertainty, accepting new ideas.-
- Previous use of landscape machinery is required and further training on new machinery will be provided in order to complete tasks set.
