**Salary £30,000 to £32,000 dependent on experience**

Our Head Gardener will be as enthusiastic at nurturing staff, volunteers and the people we support as much as the garden itself. Leading the Garden, Nursery and Day Service teams in a wide range of practical horticultural projects you will inspire and encourage creative thinking about biodiversity, environment and engagement, as well as programming for our visitors and sharing your passion through garden tours and talks at Furzey events

With a passion for conservation, you will carry out day to day management and maintenance of our highly important and beautiful gardens to ensure they are developed and maintained to the highest professional horticultural standards, ensuring the distinctive specialness of place preserved.

Collaboration is at the heart of this role. As an active member of the Social Enterprise leadership team, you will develop strategic plans, achieving goals around biodiversity and connection to nature. As well as being commercially adept and capable of driving visitor income, key to your success will be the ability to deliver exceptional customer service, engage with local communities and promote a culture of openness, accessibility and involvement for all.

Skills & Experience:

- RHS Level 2 or equivalent, or extensive experience.
- Operational and commercial experience of managing a garden.
- Experience of working with and supporting people with diverse needs, particularly people who have a learning disability desirable.
- Competence with machinery/equipment use and maintenance; (tractors, chainsaws, and pedestrian mowers).
- Full Driving Licence is essential.
- PA1 and PA6 pesticide training desirable.
- CS30 chainsaw training desirable.
- Familiar with relevant health & safety legislation
