Southall, United Kingdom West London NHS Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Stores Person to be recruited to our Estates Maintenance Team.

This post would be suitable for an experienced individual with a strong background in managing stores and stock control. This post is also for a highly driven and enthusiastic individual who has the desire to progress his professional career within the NHS and Estates Maintenance Team. Good attitude, punctuality, organisational and listening skills are a key part of this role as well as the ability to work as a team player within a large team.

West London NHS Trust is one of the most diverse providers of mental health, community and social care in the UK.

Our 3,982 staff care for people in hospital and in the community, helping them to recover and go on to lead full and productive lives. We aim to be the best organisation of our kind in the country.

We provide care and treatment for more than 800,000 people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow, delivering services in the community (at home, in GP surgeries and care homes), hospital, specialist clinics and forensic (secure) units.

We’re rated good overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Together, we’re committed to promoting hope and wellbeing, working with patients, service users, carers, families and partners across the communities we serve.

We are keen to ensure that our workforce reflects the community it serves, particularly in terms of ethnicity, gender, disability, LGBTQ+ and experience of mental illness.

Prepare formal order requisitions for stock and non-stock parts, spares, components, materials and equipment and/or the replenishment of stock items, all to meet the needs of the Estates Maintenance Department, strictly in accordance with official procedures, liaising as necessary with suppliers and specialists.

Ensure details of all goods ordered are accounted for on the Stores Item Order Tracker and stock is updated on the Trust’s Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software.

Ensure that goods obtained are of the highest quality available for the most economic price.

Receive and be the authorised signatory for deliveries, ensuring the deliver details and delivery notes/documents are accounted for on the Stores Item Order Tracker, check and assess condition and if found not fit, return these to the originating supplier, completing required documentation as necessary.

Obtain manufacturer’s data sheets for stock items and ensure an electronic copy is stored on the Trust’s shared network.

Prepare COSHH Assessment Summary sheets. (In cases of one off special purchases, retain data sheets on file, for record purposes).

Issue parts, spares, components, materials and equipment, ensuring all items are correctly requisitioned and that the relevant paperwork is completed in all cases according to the Trust’s policies and procedures.

Maintain adequate stocks of electrical, mechanical and building parts and components, plant, tools and equipment, white goods, PPE and general consumables all to meet the needs of the estates maintenance service.

Carry out internal stock checks as required, as agreed with the Estates Supervisor and Senior Estates Officer - Building & Staffing. Participate in formal annual stock check of stores by externally provided auditors.

In conjunction with the Estates Supervisor and Senior Estates Officer - Building & Staffing, monitor such stock levels/usage and amend to meet the service needs, as and when appropriate.

Maintain accurate and up to date records of stock order placed, suppliers, catalogues and appropriate technical literature and source/obtain technical information on stock and non-stock items at the request of others.

Control issue and returns of tools and equipment and ensure that these are in a safe and working condition.

Recharge estates radio batteries on behalf of workshop staff and as necessary, periodically recondition these and record results.
