**Job Title**: Compliance and Safeguarding Manager
**Location**: Working across three areas (within 10-30 minutes of each other)
**Salary**: £40,000 per annum

**Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- **OFSTED Compliance**: ensuring sites meet and exceed regulatory standards [voluntary childcare register].
- **Safeguarding Lead**: Serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), responsible for all safeguarding matters, including reporting and responding to safeguarding concerns, and liaising with local safeguarding authorities.
- **Health & Safety Oversight**: Ensure all sites comply with health and safety regulations, including managing regular audits, fire safety procedures, and first aid protocols.
- **Risk Assessments**: Conduct thorough risk assessments for premises, students, and activities at all sites, ensuring all potential risks are identified and mitigated.
- **Incident Management**: Manage safeguarding and health and safety incidents across the sites, ensuring proper filing of incident reports and communication with relevant authorities.
- **Mock Inspections**: Lead regular mock inspections at each site, identifying areas for improvement and actioning necessary training, improvements and changes.
- **Training and Development**: Offer ongoing training, guidance, and support to managers and staff across the sites on safeguarding, compliance, health and safety, and safer recruitment practices.
- **Policy Management**: Develop, update, and manage all safeguarding, health and safety, and compliance policies and processes, ensuring consistent implementation across all locations.
- **Debriefs and Follow-up**: Lead incident debriefs and training sessions following any safeguarding or health and safety incidents to prevent recurrence and reinforce best practices.
- **Safer Recruitment**: Ensure all recruitment follows safer recruitment protocols, including background checks, reference checks, and safeguarding vetting for all staff and volunteers.
- **Compliance Monitoring**: Establish and maintain systems to regularly monitor and report on safeguarding and compliance performance, taking corrective action where necessary.
- **Experience**: Proven experience in a safeguarding, compliance, or similar role, ideally within education or a service-based organisation.
- **Knowledge**: In-depth understanding of OFSTED regulations, the Children Act, KCSIE (Keeping Children Safe in Education), and health and safety legislation.
- **Safeguarding Expertise**: Extensive experience handling safeguarding incidents, completing safeguarding audits, and liaising with external safeguarding bodies.
- **Risk Assessment Skills**: Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough risk assessments for premises, students, and activities, and ensure the effective mitigation of risks.
- **Communication Skills**: Strong written and verbal communication skills to manage internal reports, training sessions, and external communication with authorities and regulatory bodies.
- **Organisation**: Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple sites, staff, and compliance tasks simultaneously.
- **Training & Leadership**: Experience providing training and support to staff and managers, including conducting formal safeguarding and health and safety training sessions.

- All successful applicants will undergo employment reference checks.
- A **Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check** or **PVG check** will be required. Please note, this role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013, and 2020.
