**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
To work according to the Nursing & Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse (or key worker) for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for:
For protecting and supporting the health of individual patients and clients acting as their advocate when necessary within the multi-disciplinary team.
The assessment of care and health education needs.
The development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient at the end of radiotherapy.
To develop leadership skills and experience in the management of the department and provide high level of specialist clinical leadership.
To promote and participate in the implementation of the UCLH Nursing & Midwifery strategy and work towards achieving the Trust “Top 10”
Reviewing nursing practice and implementing appropriate changes based on research/best practice for example in radiotherapy skin care.
Developing and implementing Audit, Quality and Risk Management initiatives.
To participate in clinical supervision programmes as appropriate and teach and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor to junior nurses and others.
To promote and maintain effective communication.
To deliver care to patients during the perioperative period. Including anaesthetic, intraoperative (scrub & circulating) and post - operative recovery.
- To provide support to the Band 7 Lead Theatre Practitioners in managing specific specialist theatres and to supervise and teaching staff and learners whilst ensuring the delivery of safe and high quality care

**Knowledge & Qualifications**:
**Essential criteria**:
- Registered Nurse level 1,2, or 12 Or Registered ODP with Dip HE, NVQ3, or C&G 752
- Teaching & Assessment Level 3, ENB 998/C&G 7307, Cert. ed., other relevant qualification or equivalent experience
- Recognised Post Registration course in Anaesthetic/ Theatre/ Recovery/ other relevant accredited course or relevant clinical experience within a theatre or Day Surgery environment
**Experience**:

- RGNs Relevant clinical experience at Band 5, or recent qualification in peri operative practice
- ODPs Relevant clinical experience post qualification
