**About The Job**

**Salary**:£12.45 - £12.65 per hour (plus enhancements)

**Enhancements**:_Weekend working_** - Time & a half, **_Bank Holidays_** - Double time & **_Night enhancement_** (8pm - 10pm shifts) *if applicable to the role
**Working Pattern**:Shifts on 4-week rotation (inclusive of evenings & weekends)

**Contract Length**:Part Time, 22.50 hours per week equating to a total of 90 hours per month *(the weekly hours may vary)

**JOB DETAILS** As a Night Support Worker, you will**:

- Provide personal physical, emotional care and support during a waking night shift.
- Listen to people and treat all with respect, kindness and dignity.
- Undertake light domestic duties as required to ensure cleanliness, comfort, and safety for people we support throughout the day e.g., laundry, or safely cleaning an area after a person has needed personal care.
- Complete regular hourly checks around the service, to include checking on people’s wellbeing and on the security of the building.

You will work as part of a team based within a residential setting. As a Night Support Worker, you will be required to provide safe, effective, and personalised support and care in supporting individuals to bed, getting up in the morning and responding to their emotional and physical wellbeing as required during the night.

This is an active role and there will be some requirements for moving and handling, for example, assisting people to walk, moving people between a wheelchair and chair using a hoist etc.

You will be required to be on duty for up to a 10-hour shift, during which time you are required to stay awake and able to provide appropriate care. There may be a need to work evenings or weekends to meet the needs of the service.
**WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED**
**You’ll need to demonstrate a basic understanding of working with people with learning disabilities, people with dementia and other cognitive impairments, and adults with physical and sensory impairments.**:
**Experience and skills**(These will be used as the shortlisting criteria)

**Key Skills**:

- Ability to interpret information, such as service complaints, and then redirect them to the appropriate person to provide quick and accurate resolution.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to provide clear and concise specialist advice and guidance to a range of people we support. Be able to work with a person who might be less able to express themselves and understand non-verbal communication.
- Clear, concise basic literacy and numeracy skills to record and document activities in the care plan.
- Able to deal appropriately with expressive behaviour from people and respond sensitively to their families and carers.
- Able to build relationships with people from a wide variety of cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
- Ability to work as part of a team completing shared tasks to deliver a service to others.

**Qualifications and/or experience**:

- Basic literacy and numeracy skills to record and document activities in the provider plans.
- Diploma Level 2 in Care, or willingness to work towards, or equivalent qualification - Desirable
- Basic understanding of Safeguarding, the needs of the people and their rights as an individual.
- Demonstrable successful experience of working as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety practice, First Aid and Fire procedure, Manual Handling - Desirable
- Previous experience of working in a care setting and with people who have a disability or vulnerable people - Desirable

You’ll be comfortable following basic procedures and clear instructions so that little close supervision is necessary, for example determining actions needed in accordance with provider plan or health and safety.

You’ll have the ability to support people to grow in confidence, and a desire to develop their ability to do the things they want to. You’ll have a good working knowledge of safeguarding and managing risks, and you’ll be able to raise concerns in relation to individuals through recognising verbal, physical or behavioural changes and signs.
