Software Developer Apprentice- Fully Remote

Software Developers at SMS Plc work as part of a multi-disciplinary team extending and maintaining critical business systems. As an apprentice software developer, you will be starting out your career in software engineering, learning new technologies andmethodologies through study and hands-on practice. A passion for technology and thirst for knowledge are essential attributes for anyone in this role.
**A typical day**
- Attending daily stand up to sync up with the team and make sure we are doing the most impactful work
- Learning new technologies and methodologies
- Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable code
- Maintain code quality by writing automated unit and integration tests for all production code
**You must have**
- GCSE English & Maths 4-9 (C-A*) or equivalent
- Level 3 qualification (A level, BTEC or equivalent)
**Skills needed**
- IT literate with proven interest in computer programming
- Self learning coding experience in any language
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Logical problem solver
- Autonomy - Works under supervision. Uses little discretion. Is expected to seek guidance in unexpected situations.
- Influence - Minimal influence. May work alone or interact with immediate colleagues.
- Complexity - Performs routine activities in a structured environment. Requires assistance in resolving unexpected problems.
- Knowledge - Has a basic generic knowledge appropriate to area of work.
**Training provided**
Software Engineer Level 4
Being a Multiverse apprentice means access to awesome social events, sports teams, insight/career days with other apprentices to grow your network, as well as your own personal Coach who will guide you through the qualification to help you achieve your fullpotential.
As part of your Multiverse apprenticeship, you will have access to our Future Leaders Foundation modules to help you develop the 6 key competencies: well-being, self-awareness, motivation, conscientiousness, effectiveness and grit.
**Future prospect**
After your Software Engineering apprenticeship, you can progress into a junior developer role (this includes web and app development). You'll have the skills to continue growing within a tech team, and have enough knowledge/experience to pick up new languageswith ease. Software Engineering Level 4 will also provide a good foundation for transitioning into data science.
