Lead Software Development Engineer in TestIntroduction:We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our XenServer (XS) System Quality team. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will spend the majority of your time designing coding and executing automated tests using Python. You will work closely with quality managers release teams and developers to build and implement robust test strategies for the XenServer is a fully remote role for candidates within the UK with the option to work from our Cambridge office if desired.About XenServer:XenServer is a commercial virtualisation platform based on the open-source Xen hypervisor.XenServer powers everything from government organizations multi-thousand seat virtual desktop deployments super-fast network load balancers all the way up to some of the largest public and private clouds in the world.What we are looking for:You are a strategic and technically proficient leader with a passion for quality assurance.You enjoy mentoring others driving process improvements and solving complex technical challenges.You possess strong communication and organizational skills and have a proven track record of leading successful testing initiatives.You have a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle advanced knowledge of operating systems and virtualization and are highly skilled in object-oriented Python.You are experienced in agile environments version control and have a strong grasp of networking protocols and enterprise-grade storage solutions.You are comfortable working across Linux and Windows environments.Duties and Responsibilities:Develop and implement comprehensive test strategies plans and frameworks for XenServer.Design develop and maintain advanced automated and manual test scripts using Python.Maintenance and functional enhancements of automated test assets.Conduct code reviews and ensure code quality within the team.Collaborate with cross functional development teams to deliver bug fixes and new featuresDrive requirement analysis and ensure testability of requirements.Measure monitor and report on Test progress product quality test results and test progress.Analyzing and triaging test failures to identify root causes and collaborate with development teams on resolutions.Identify and report critical defects and ensure timely resolution.Drive standards and best practices in QA and Testing and contribute to process improvementsChampion the adoption of new testing tools and technologies.Manage test environments and infrastructure.Required Experience / Skills:Computer Science Degree or equivalent relevant industry experience.5 years of programming experience in object oriented Python.In depth knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.Expert understanding of functional non-functional regression and performance testing methodologies.Solid understanding of networking protocols.Experience working with enterprise class SAN/NAS(e.g. iSCSI NFS FC) storage solutionsProven ability to drive test strategy and planning.A passion for the subject matter and the curiosity to search out and try new things as well as seek new challenges.Quick learner happy working on unfamiliar technologies and programming languages and learning as you go.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage with all levels of management...and it would be great if you had exposure to:Experience with performance testing and benchmarking including the design of tests and the analysis of performance data to identify system bottlenecks and regressions.CI/CD and associated infrastructure/toolsets: Jenkins Virtual Machines.Experience or desire to work with cloud technologies such as Microsoft Azure.Experience leading and managing test automation frameworksAbout Us:Cloud Software Group is one of the worlds largest cloud solution providers serving more than 100 million users around the globe.
