Position Summary
Are you passionate about microbiology and looking for an opportunity to make a meaningful impact? As a Microbiological Technologist at GSK, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and safety of our manufacturing processes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to monitor and maintain aseptic standards, conduct microbiological testing, and provide training to colleagues. **Responsibilities**:
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
- Working as an aseptic environmental monitoring operator to perform environmental monitoring of aseptic/terminally sterilized facilities in line with the required monitoring regime.
- Sample facilities using a range on techniques (surface swab, active air, settle plate, contact plate)
- Perform routine water sampling and testing - sampling WFI and clean steam used in the filling facilities.
- Perform microbiological testing of components, intermediate and finished products.
- Engage in performing shutdown classification/reclassification of areas, including ISO qualification of areas, HEPA filter testing, air exchange rate testing, etc.
- Deliver and assess aseptic microbiological training as required to new SBU operators.
Basic Qualification
We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:
- Minimum 5 GCSEs or equivalent
- Basic understanding of at least the core principals of microbiology, as this knowledge will aid operators in delivering training and their understanding of the tasks, they are performing in the role
- Work routine scheduled overtime when required as part of the continuous Steriles business support
- Being flexible to the shifting business demands
- Completion of relevant paperwork to a high standard
- Ability to build cross functional relationships and communicate clearly across departmental boundaries
- Strong knowledge of cGMP
Preferred Qualification
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- A-Level / HNC or HND in Biology
- Microbiology related degree would be advantageous
- Previous experience in using SAP/MERP/LES
- Previous experience of working in a pharmaceutical environment
- Clear and concise communication skills
This role is on-site at Barnard Castle and based in the United Kingdom.
