**The team**
Our ITV Commercial team is responsible for bringing in the £2bn worth of advertising that helps fund ITV's programming. ITV Commercial works with over 2000 advertisers to help them create campaigns that cut through competitive clutter, harness popular culture, build credibility, drive fame for their brands and transformational results for their businesses.
The Client Strategy team sits within the ITV Commercial division and has an overall remit to help ITV build closer and more strategic relationships with its advertisers. We do this by leveraging our deep understanding of ITV’s mainstream audiences to support the broader commercial team by developing creative briefs, working with internal and external experts to develop thought leadership and driving an effectiveness agenda.
**The role**
We are looking for a Strategy & Research Executive who is culturally astute, passionately believes in the power of TV, and who is interested in how brands are built to join our London based team on a permanent basis.
This role sits in the engine room of our Client Strategy team and it serves two functions. Firstly to support the creation of our proprietary research, and secondly to draw upon your industry and research knowledge to up the quality of our response to client creative briefs.
As Strategy & Research Executive, you will work across multiple projects, categories and brands. It’s a dynamic role where no two days will be the same, so you’ll need to be able to self-motivate and work well under pressure but also be proactive and get stuck into wider team life.
At Strategy Executive level, you’ll form your own opinions of what a good strategy looks like and will be reading the key strategy texts and keeping up to date on the latest thinking and award papers.
You’ll embrace the chance to share your opinions with a variety of people, from sales teams to agency people and clients. You’ll enjoy researching and using insight to help you get to a point of view that ultimately influences your strategic point of view.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Helping build and shape culturally-led research into ITV’s mainstream audiences
- Working across brand partnership and sponsorship briefs - helping to craft creative and comms strategies that lead to top quality creative output.
- Contributing to and eventually owning creative briefs, from developing insight to briefing creative teams.
- Distilling complex information into simple strategic direction.
- Building strong relationships with sales execs and managers (your commercial partners in crime).
- Presenting your strategic thinking to clients and agencies.
- Keeping on top of the latest industry reports and thinking, and sharing these with the team.
**Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)**
- Previous experience in a creative/brand/cultural insight/research agency, media owner or in-house creative agency teams.
- A good understanding of the basic principles of good creative strategy.
**Other things we’re looking for (key criteria)**
- Curious, insightful, magpie-like appreciation of people and culture and a genuine love of mainstream popular culture and TV.
- The ability to present your work with confidence and passion, explaining the process behind your decisions at each step.
- Confident presentation skills.
- Collaborative and comfortable working in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Comfortable ‘in the grey’ i.e. we won’t always get the clearest briefs, we won’t always have time to approach something in a purist research way - you will need to be agile, commercial and adaptable.
- A passion for meeting new people - you’ll spend a lot of time building up a network of clients.
