**Job Description -Buyer**

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our team, reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining optimal stock levels, ensuring that products are sourced at the best possible price and quality to meet customer demand in a fast-paced environment. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a proactive attitude who is ready to make an impact within our procurement team.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide direct support to the purchasing team in all procurement activities.
- Ensure purchasing operations are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness, focusing on:

- Stock levels
- Price fluctuations
- Freight costs
- Maintain cost-effective stock levels while minimising shortages.
- Identify opportunities to reduce stockholding and material costs.
- Adhere to daily procurement disciplines in line with system requirements.
- Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of product categories.
- Liaise effectively with customer service and warehouse teams to address stock issues, customer complaints, and supplier concerns.
- Support the import of goods into the UK, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favourable terms. Identify slow and excess stock and work with the team to create a plan to resolve.

**Skills & Experience Required**:

- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a buying or procurement role within a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of cost-saving initiatives.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Good understanding of importing goods into the UK.
- Educated to degree level.
